Piepacker has announced that it will be bringing its social gaming platform to Gamers Without Borders. Started on June 7th and over the course of nine weeks, the online gaming event will gather contestants from all over the world to compete for the $10 million prize pool supporting Covid-19 charities.
Gamers Without Borders is an esports and gaming charity event brought to life by the Saudi Esports Federation (SEF). Gathering gamers from all around the world for nine weeks, the online event will feature a six-week elite series including celebrities, pro players and esports teams, but also live Q&A, talks, live virtual concerts, special guests, and Flashback Challenges. All fans will be given space under the spotlight too, as an open environment will welcome players from all levels for daily esports and gaming tournaments free for anyone to join.
Under the theme “No One Left Behind”, Gamers Without Borders supports global charitable organizations leading the fight against Covid-19. The $10 million prize pool as well as the community donations raised will be donated to renowned charity organizations, including UNICEF, GAVI, or KS Relief.
GWB Flashback Challenges
Piepacker brings its social gaming platform to Gamers Without Borders’ unique experience pillar. Its revolutionary technology enables people to play retro games online for free with a baked-in video chat to enhance the social experience. Available directly from a web browser, players around the world can join multiplayer game rooms through a single URL link making it the most accessible place to bring a community together.
Piepacker will be hosting the GWB Flashback Challenges held every Wednesday from June 23rd to July 14th, featuring retro gaming sessions with world-famous influencers and guest speakers such as Mizkif, Daltoosh, Yvonnie, Danucd or Jon Sandman, to name just a few. Each session will put the spotlight on a game available on Piepacker and will have its own community Leaderboard, available for everybody to compete.
For each game users team up and win points. The teams at the top of the leaderboards will get rewards and some of them will eventually compete against famous streamers as Community Heroes on July 14th.
Piepacker’s Twitch integration
In the fourth and final episode of the GWB Flashback Challenge, streamers will compete against the Community Heroes in Arsène Lupin: Gentleman Bomber, a Piepacker Studios’ original game. Viewers will even be able to interact directly with the players, a la Twitch Plays Pokémon: through the Twitch extension as viewers will be able to control and drop in-game items to help (or hinder!) players.
