Pixel Toys shares its unique Covid-19 success story. Since the outbreak began in late February, the independent games developer and publisher has continued to grow, increasing its team from 55 to 85 employees.
Following the announcement of expansion plans earlier this year, which saw the opening of a second floor within its building, business has continued to thrive. In fact, while many UK businesses have had to rely on government help to retain staff during the pandemic, Pixel Toys is hiring rapidly.
Thirty new team members have started working for the company since lock-down, twenty-one of whom have been on-boarded remotely. This has led to the company shipping equipment, ensuring weekly Zoom staff catch ups, and even hosting yoga and bingo sessions. But the good news story doesn’t stop there. Due to further growth plans, there are a further 20 roles to fill between now and July, which is great news for talented individuals living in, or near, Leamington Spa.
David Solari, Vice President of Operations and Marketing at Pixel Toys says:
“As a video games developer, we know we are in a fortunate position, compared to most, during these uncertain times. In fact, we’ve generated over 50 new jobs for games developers with outstanding technical and creative skills. Hiring so many people in such a short space of time is always a challenge because you want the best talent, and hiring during a pandemic has definitely been an eye opener. We feel really lucky to be in this position and it’s an exciting time for the company.”
Pixel Toys has provided close care, for all employees, during the global pandemic. As well as conducting work from home surveys to gain feedback directly from its staff, the company has also worked hard to ensure each member of the team has a healthy work from home environment. In some cases, better equipment for employees has been provided including chairs and webcams. The gaming studio has also supported with utility payments. As a result, 94% of Pixel Toys staff agreed or strongly agreed that the company has engaged and communicated well throughout this difficult time.
