Raiden IV x MIKADO remix from developer MOSS and NIS America is a blast from the past combining the classic arcade shoot βem up with some more modern enhancements.
In Raiden IV x MIKADO remix, players will dive right into the action by selecting a mode, a ship, difficulty setting and then taking to the skies. Once airborne, youβll face off against waves and waves of enemy forces as you blast your way through levels while collecting power-ups and racking up insanely high scores.
Being a top down arcade shoot βem up from yesteryear, Raiden IV x MIKADO remix visually enhances the original arcade title and brings some new features to the table. Thereβs an Overkill mode which includes a new scoring system as well as an Additional mode that features 2 new levels to get through.

Players can also view ship models in the gallery as well as adjust the display position of the gameβs screen. Thereβs also options to change the wallpaper background displayed on the side of the screen and thereβs world rankings and replays available. Notably the developers have also included a βDouble Playβ mode which gives you the ability to pilot two ships at the same time. This really amps things up a notch since the amount of flashy shots and bullets flying around on-screen at one time becomes quite intense.
Gameplay in Raiden IV x MIKADO remix is pretty straightforward with players having to dodge enemy bullets and fire off their own to defeat them. Thereβs some pretty large bosses to fight against and youβll have to really channel your inner piloting skills to dodge the bullet hell that awaits you here. Thankfully, the gameβs various difficulty levels are great and playing on the easiest difficulty is an option for those that are less skilled at dodging.
Players will have access to a variety of different types of weaponry in levels as they pick up powerups and will be able to fend off enemy forces relatively well. Should things become too intense, you can make use of a bomb to do massive damage to everything on screen. Standard fare for any self-respecting shoot βem up.

Graphically, Raiden IV x MIKADO remix looks great for an old school arcade title remastered. The retro graphics still hold up quite well due to the art style and the new levels are superb.
The soundtrack is arguably the star of the show here though with the background music tracks having been enhanced and remixed and rearranged. Thereβs some seriously good tracks here which really fit the gameβs theme and fast-paced action.
Overall Raiden IV x MIKADO remix is a great addition to any shoot βem up fanβs library. Itβs pure old school top down shooting action at its finest and definitely a title that you should pick up if you are a fan of these types of retro games. The game is a tad on the pricey side though so if youβre not too happy about forking out a lot of money for it, keep an eye out for it during a sale.
If youβre a fan of shoot βem ups, this is a title that you should definitely consider checking out
