For some time now I have reviewed headphones and earphones from the best of the best like SteelSeries, Razer and Cool Master just to name a few, now I have my first Bluetooth set of earphones from Tecevo.
The ‘FX5 Sport Bluetooth 4.0 Wireless Stereo Earphones, premium Sweat-Proof wireless Earbud headphones with built in Microphone’ “That’s a mouth full to say”. The packaging is not the greatest as it uses the same material that I cannot stand, the same plastic you get that hugs a Micro SD Card right in the centre of the packaging, that same packaging that requires a knife or a pair of scissors to cut open.
Even though I dislike the packaging, I have to admit, the earphones were well displayed and the design of the internal advertisement sleeve was precise and looked appealing to the eyes. The Earphones are yellow and black, the designer implemented these colours in the design of the sleeve, everything matched up really well. All the basic selling points where they’re, Wireless Stereo headphones, Bluetooth, even the moto ‘for people on the move’.
The earphones come with a spare set of ear cushions, a set earbuds in different sizes and a USB cable to charge, no sign of the actual plug. You also get an instruction manual, which you will need to read to know how to use these earphones effectively.

Setting up was a walk in the park after reading the instruction manual, the best thing was, the earphones arrived just in time for my charity 46mile Bike Ride ‘South Wales Bike Ride – For the British Heart Foundation’.. Well, at least I thought I would be off, these eardphones took some time to get perfect in the ear, not a simple case of, in, twist a little, and done, nope, in twist, twist some more, got to get these damn secure-fit ear cushions in place as well. After too long getting these earphones in place, I was a way, music came through very well, and I was enjoying my time cycling. Listening to music was a pleasure, no issues there, however, having to answer a call was, as soon as I pressed the button on the earphone to answer, out popped the whole thing. I just spent ages getting them in place and now they pop out, I did not even answer the call either, I only put a small amount of pressure on the earphones and it dislodged.
After some time again putting it back in my ear, I was off again, this time learnt not to answer a call via the earphones. My partner calls….. Ring, Ring, Hello, this time I used my mobile phone to answer via the earphones. I could hear and understand every word she was saying, and she had no issues hearing me, on the other end, so it’s safe to say, these work very well.
28miles down the run, starts to hammer down with rain, my clothes are wet, my feet are swimming and the earphones have fallen out, getting them back in was impossible. So for the last of the run, I had no music and the earphones spent the last 1hrs in my back pocket.
I have to question
Tecevo have gone overboard when they designed thes earphones, the Secure-fit ear cushions are a pain in the arse, the buttons are useless and the overall weight of the earphones are a little to much.
Here are my suggestions, go back to Tecevo F3, make them slightly smaller profile for the ear, add touch controls instead, so on the right ear can be touched twice to answer, touch once to close or cancel the call. On the left ear could be touch and hold for volume up and hold and double touch and hold for volume down. This would make it easier to answer and much less of a hassle trying to find the correct buttons to control the earphones.
Another idea for controls, would be to add them to the cable instead of the actual earphones.
If I was to say anything good about these headphones, it would be simple, they work, they connect up to any Bluetooth device with no issues, the sound quility is not upto par, with the high end earphones I own, but for the price, you can not expect much more.
On the negative side, I would have to say the buttons are useless, the Secure-fit ear cushions are a pain in the arse to fit in the ear perfectly, they also feel a little too heavy on the ears during usage. They also fell out during heavy rainfall and were impossible to put back in comfortably, and finally, they do start to hurt during prolonged usage.
3/5 they work, connected to Bluetooth with no issues, when in the ear, they do the job great, even with all the issues that I found. I hope they will listen and on the next revision of the earphones, they might implement the changes.
