I looked forward to receiving my Thrustmaster Y250C headset and I was not disappointed upon its arrival. Normally I used to just buy any cheap headset I could get my hands on, that was a mistake; they were uncomfy, badly designed and not of great quality. However, this is defiantly not how I would describe the Thrustmaster Y250C headset and if you are like me you should defiantly read on.
Upon receiving the package the headset was in a decent box that showed of the headset well, you could see the headset and the little control that comes along with it. Inside you will find the headphones, the ‘control’, a 3.5mm jack cable and a cable to plug it into your PC/computer. There were minimal instructions, but it is pretty simple to understand how to use it. I am sure someone buying a gaming headset will know what they have to do without a guide.
As well as the PC, the headset is compatible with the use of; IPod’s, phones (for calls as well as listening to music), PSP, DS, etc. You can either plug them straight in using the attached jack or use the ‘control’ to help extend the cable, which is great.

Comfort
Comfort is a key factor for me on a headset, with having to wear glasses anything too tight or not built to a good quality means that I am not able to wear it for long periods of time. With an adjustable double metal headband, I was able to adjust the headphones to a very comfortable position. It is not a headset that you will forget you are wearing as there is some weight to it, but with the padded section on the top it made it easier to wear which was great when having a good gaming session. The cups are over ear which is something preferred now; they are snug, padded and are not needed to be moved often. Overall I would say that it is the comfiest headset I had worn in a long time and will do very well for what I use them for.
Gaming
So the best way to see the true excellence of this headset was to use it in game. The sound was amplified well and the noise cancellation played a key part in allowing you to hear the sounds better. You will easily hear what is going on around you and who is sneaking up on you. I went from speakers to headset to judge the difference in experience and I can honestly say I preferred wearing the headset.
Sound quality
So most importantly, how is the sound? Personally it is really good, it may not be as good as other headsets but I wouldn’t know as I haven’t used them. But for me this does the job to a great standard and I am extremely certain that any other user of this headset would strongly agree. At a reasonable price you are getting good audio from a very sturdy headset. It seems to be built to last as long as you are willing to take care of it that is.
Microphone quality
The microphone quality was better than expected, speech was clearly heard and easy to change when it wasn’t at the start. Using the ‘control’ I was able to increase the audibility of the microphone as well as mute myself when I wanted to without having to go into a load of settings and getting lost amongst them. It was very easy to use upon start up, all that was needed was to plug it into the computer, turn up the volume and mic boost and that was it, and away I went.
Overall, the headset was great. It may look a bit large when worn but the comfort; good audio and microphone make this headset worth the purchase. It is not wireless and there are a lot of other decent headsets out there but for the price and for what you are receiving at that price it is defiantly worth the look. You can even purchase some of the others from the series that are compatible with the Xbox and PS3 which you will also find reviews for on this site.
