Coffee Stain and Iron Gate have announced the arrival of Ashlands, Valheim’s latest biome update, now entering public testing. In this fiery new environment, Vikings will face their toughest challenges yet, contending with charred denizens cursed to live in undeath.

The Ashlands biome promises to be Valheim’s deadliest yet, demanding players fight fiercely for every inch of territory. To navigate this treacherous landscape, Vikings will wield a new arsenal of flametal weapons, enhanced with precious gems that imbue them with powerful properties, from lightning strikes to nature magic.
But the dangers of the Ashlands extend beyond its fiery shores. From land, air, and sea, new foes lurk, and the very biome itself becomes a threat as fire rains down upon Vikings and structures alike. To fortify their settlements, players will have access to new building pieces crafted from Ashwood and ancient Grausten stone salvaged from scattered ruins.
In addition to facing off against formidable foes, Vikings will engage in sieges against the forces of Charred, fortified within imposing fortresses. To breach these defenses, players will utilize siege weapons such as catapults and battering rams, requiring strategy and teamwork to overcome the evil that lurks within.
Andreas Tomasson, Valheim producer, remarked, “The Ashlands mark a significant milestone as the last major update before our final batch of content when the game reaches 1.0. We’re anticipating players will be surprised by how difficult it is at first, but that’s what Valheim is all about – challenging and often brutal exploration and survival.”
