Probably the most annoying thing in gaming is the lack of time until a game is scheduled to be released. It has been a curse to the industry and the community of gamers alike. Whether we like it or not, we are stuck in that loop as long as the companies enforce it. Sure! Deadlines are necessary to make sure everything goes in order. It actually makes developers act fast so it doesn’t get delayed more than it needs to be. But with that comes the underwhelming gameplay or story, paired with the annoying bugs and glitches due to the lack of time as developers try to hasten the work and probably being sleep-deprived at times to make errors which shouldn’t happen if they are at a hundred percent of their power.
What I’m trying to say is, do we really need all that hectic schedules especially when games, the games we so love, are the ones to suffer in the process? I don’t know about you guys and gals out there but I wouldn’t mind waiting two or more years as long as the game I so waited for is worth the time and effort were given to it.
Not to mention there are games that release on an annual basis that ends up being underwhelming to the core, end game being close to non-existent while its story is nothing to write home about either. The only reason people probably like it is due to the hype and the fact that titles like that are already well-known so no matter how bad the game is, no matter how clunky the controls are it still gets enough sales to keep it afloat. What’s worse is, if its worth as much or more as an AAA game that isn’t even on the same level of polish it had.
I’m not here to point out names or anything… I know that you know what those are and what they do to make this curse nothing but the truth. As a gamer, and a fellow fan of a series, it pains me to see the games I love, the games that made me want to get it in the first place, be the thing that made me regret every decision I’ve made up to this point from the moment I saw it was announced. Because games deserve the love it yearns for, it’s like your newborn child and as years come by she grows older and older but uglier?! What kind of parent would even want that to its child right? It’s preposterous! Absurd! Ridiculous! And every other word synonymous to that!
I won’t tell you to stop getting such games, or telling your friends to not get it. I only ask you this, voice out your opinions, provide criticisms, tell what you find unnecessary or lacking. But if that doesn’t get their attention, I say it’s a lost cause and it’s time to abandon ship! Some game series might die out in the process but if it gets the message across, it might be worth a shot!
So what do you think? Will you join the rebellion? Or will you stay as an Imperial soldier ‘til the very end?
