Architect Life A House Design Simulator is a game that instantly caught my eye because, if you’re like me and grew up on The Sims, then building houses and decorating them was a huge part of your childhood. Additionally, deleting the ladders to the swimming pool when a Sim was swimming was a common occurrence, but that’s a different matter. Another thing I loved doing in The Sims was using the cheat code to get more Simoleons, so I could have big and wacky houses. Fast forward to 2025 and I stumble across a game that could actually top The Sims in terms of building houses.
This game is called Architect Life A House Design Simulator and it comes out on the 19th of June 2025. Developed by Shine Research and published by Nacon, I was one of the lucky ones who got the opportunity to receive a code before release and dive into the Architect life. Architect Life A House Design Simulator took me by surprise, in a good way but took a few hours to get used to the gameplay and controls to make houses that I would consider masterpieces.
Architect Life A House Design Simulator allows players to create dream homes from a 3D plan modelling through to on-site decision-making. You’ll be tasked with bringing projects to life while getting creative freedom to take your architectural firm to new heights. You will spend the majority of your time at your desk letting your imagination run wild and once you are happy with the design you get to watch your creations come to life and even have the luxury of walking around them in first-person which is fantastic.
There are a few modes but you will spend the majority of your time in either the free mode or the Career mode. They both play similarly but the main difference is free mode allows you to do whatever you want. It’s like the sandbox mode you get in other simulator games where as the Career mode has you set up your own architectural firm and run it. From a nobody to somebody where everyone wants a house designed by your firm. You will have to manage a variety of projects from start to finish and meet the criteria and budgets of those who trust you with building their dream homes.
At this point, I’d advise partaking in the tutorial to learn how the game works and maybe getting used to the controls as they feel a bit off at first. Like using the camera and building things to the right specs. But once you get your head around this you will hit the ground running and will be able to take on any project thrown your way.
When you are given a project, you will go through these main phases to make sure you’re building your houses to the best of your ability. The first thing is to model out all the walls, rooms, roofs, etc to the brief that the customers have given you. You will still get creative freedom but make sure you keep the customer’s ideas and budget in mind.
Then you’ll move onto the wall, roof, and floor coverings to make the home feel homier and less like a brick wall. It’s this point where you start adding personal touches to your design. You must also remember to install the heating and air conditioning systems to make sure the occupants of the home can adjust the temperature to their liking during the summer and winter months.
Decoration is the last and most fundamental part of the house as this is where you will kit out the outdoor areas, come up with the layout of all the rooms, and make sure the house has all the perfect furniture, accessories, and facilities that will make the buyers dream home come true. The level of detail in this is crazy. It will be down to putting candles on a chest of drawers and, again swimming pools in the garden while decking out your verandas with all the go-to furniture. This game seems to have it all covered.
Once you are happy with your masterpiece and hopefully haven’t blown the whole budget you will go to the construction phase of the project. This is where you will select subcontractors that will make the customer’s dream home a reality, if you have been wise with the budget, you can get the best of the best subcontractors however if you haven’t been paying attention to your budget you might end up with the runt of the litter.
While the house is being built you will supervise the work and make sure that construction sticks to the time scale as closely as possible to deliver it to the customer on time but let’s be honest nothing ever goes according to time scale.
When the house is complete explore your new home in first person, take in every room, and admire your handy work. There is such a high level of creative freedom in Architect Life A House Design Simulator and once you have mastered and got your head around all the different tools, materials, and techniques you can make some truly breath-taking pieces. You build everything from the ground up and have to consider everything. As you progress you will unlock more skills and specialties that allow you to be more creative in the design process.
I prefer playing in Free Mode because this is where you can just let your imagination run wild without limited budgets and constraints. You will also get to choose what biome you want to build your house in and this game has a lot of different terrain types to choose from. This was a perfect game to come home to after a long day at work, to just sit back with a cup of tea and build homes in peace. No crazy 10-year-old trying to shotgun me in the face, no big bad trying to overthrow the galaxy, just me and the firm creating quality houses for virtual people. The high life.
Graphically the game is stunning and runs super smoothly on my PC. It’s at its best when you are exploring your homes in first person and you get to see the lighting from the sun and lights illuminate your home. The level of detail is crazy and I enjoy showing off my homes to my partner after I have spent some time perfecting every room. The audio is relaxing and the soundtrack is perfect for the game’s atmosphere. Nothing over the top just nice background noise while you concentrate on the important things.
There is plenty of replay value in Architect Life A House Design Simulator. Once you have finished the career mode there is endless potential in free mode. Like all park-building simulators and simulation games in general they allow you to sink hours into them and still feel the same level of stratification as you did when you first picked them up. Your only limitation to replay value is when you get brain fog and need to go back to the drawing board to get that creative spark back. I normally do this by browsing house-selling websites or putting in-house designs on good images to get inspiration.
Conclusion
All in all, Architect Life A House Simulator is a cozy simulation game where you don’t have to hold an architect degree to be able to build houses. It simplifies it enough to make it more appealing to players but does get repetitive over time. It does offer a challenge with the various client requests in the career mode but the game for me shines the most in free mode where I get to let my imagination run wild.
There are a few bugs and fixes that need to be sorted but for the most part, I enjoyed my time with this simulating game. If you are a fan of The Sims then this is right up your street. For an asking price of £24.99 on Steam it’s not going to break the bank like a lot of titles do nowadays. For these reasons, I’m giving Architect Life A House Simulator an 8 out of 10, for being a great simulation experience.
