On June 30th and July 1st, Dortmund and Niantic, Inc. have been host to a one-of-a-kind event in Europe, which drew more than 170,000 guests from all over the world to the German city. During Pokémon GO Safari Zone, a large amount of Pokémon – among them very rare ones – appeared in unique Westfalenpark and the whole city area via the hit app. Combined with sunny weather, cultural highlights and a range of leisure activities, trainers were able to catch 28,6 million Pokémon in the park alone this weekend.
The Pokémon GO Safari Zone Dortmund marks the start of Pokémon GO Summer Tour, which includes two similar events. From July 14th to July 15th, Chicago will host Pokémon GO Fest 2018: A Walk in the Park and later this summer, another Safari Zone event will be held in Yokosuka, Japan.
Additional numbers and facts about Safari Zone, more photos and details about the upcoming Pokémon GO events can be found on the official Niantic blog.
