Social video service Twitch and PUBG Corporation have announced a massive amount of unique Twitch streamer-themed in-game items and skins coming to PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG). The in-game items include more than 200 purchasable skins designed for specific streamers, making it the first player-customized skins collection of this scale. In addition, all Twitch Prime members can claim up to 10 exclusive in-game items for free.
Many of the skins will be created for participants of Broadcaster Royale, a PUBG tournament series from Twitch. Season 1 recently concluded, featuring thousands of community members competing alongside over 150 Twitch Partners including Shroud, Lil_Lexi, Sacriel, and Anthony_Kongphan, for a $300,000 prize pool. Broadcaster Royale is a one of a kind event where any PUBG fan can qualify to compete against Twitch streamers for a piece of the grand prize.
For season 2 of Broadcaster Royale, Twitch is mixing up the format from the qualifiers to the finals. Like Season 1, Twitch is teaming up again with OMEN by HP, and this time teams will need to withstand a gauntlet of OMEN challenges that require foregoing conservative strategies and embracing risky moves to collect points. Teams that earn the most points in each region will go on to the finals at TwitchCon 2018 in October which will by powered by OMEN by HP desktops and displays. Additionally, whether they’re a top Twitch streamer or a community member from the open qualifiers, winners of Broadcaster Royale: OMEN Challenge will receive the opportunity to have their own PUBG in-game items to sell. Open registration for season 2 begins now and closes on September 25 at 11:59 PM PT (or when slots are filled).
The custom skins will be available for purchase from twitch.tv/PUBG, via an Extension on participating Twitch channels, or within the game through Steam. Revenue from the sale of these custom skins not only supports the Twitch streamer that contributed to the designs for certain items, but also the channel owner if purchased via an Extension. Any revenue-earning Partner or Affiliate can sell items via the Extension.
“Fans of Twitch love to celebrate and support their favorite PUBG streamers,” said John Howell, VP of Global Partnerships at Twitch. “By offering an unprecedented amount of skins tailored after these popular streaming personalities, it ensures fans can wear their hearts on both sleeves while supporting their favorite creators.”
