SteelSeries has expanded its Apex Pro Gen 3 keyboard range with two new LTD models, the Apex Pro Gen 3 Cyber and Apex Pro Gen 3 Steel, as part of the company’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
The new keyboards build on SteelSeries’ existing Apex Pro Gen 3 technology, combining OmniPoint 3.0 switches with the company’s latest Hall Effect sensor technology and a collection of competitive-focused features including Rapid Trigger, Rapid Tap and Protection Mode.
OmniPoint 3.0 Gets New Switch Options
At the heart of the Apex Pro Gen 3 LTD models is SteelSeries’ OmniPoint 3.0 technology. The new switch options are available with different spring actuation weights, giving players a choice between Speed and Control depending on how they want their keyboard to feel.
The keyboards also feature what SteelSeries describes as the industry’s first Hall Effect Gen 3 sensor, designed to provide the underlying detection technology for the keyboard’s adjustable and rapid input features.
Triple Threat Tech
The Apex Pro Gen 3 range is built around SteelSeries’ Triple Threat Tech, combining Rapid Trigger, Protection Mode and Rapid Tap.
Rapid Trigger allows keys to reset based on movement rather than requiring them to return to a fixed actuation point, while Rapid Tap is designed to improve responsiveness when alternating between directional inputs. Protection Mode provides another layer of configurable input control.
SteelSeries has also introduced GG QuickSet, which is designed to make configuring these features easier. Players can create settings for individual games, including per-key actuation and the various competitive features, then have those settings applied automatically through game profiles.
Designed Around Game Profiles
The aim of QuickSet is to reduce the amount of manual configuration required when switching between games. Rather than repeatedly changing settings, players can configure their preferred options for individual titles and allow the appropriate profile to handle the changes.
This includes features such as Rapid Tap, Rapid Trigger, Protection Mode and per-key actuation, giving players more control over how the keyboard responds in different games.
Apex Pro Gen 3 LTD Pricing and Availability
The SteelSeries Apex Pro Gen 3 Cyber and Apex Pro Gen 3 Steel are available from September 22 through SteelSeries.com and selected retailers worldwide.
The keyboards have an MSRP of $239.99 in North America, £239.99 in the UK and €249.99 across EMEA.
The new LTD models expand the Apex Pro Gen 3 family with additional switch options and the latest OmniPoint technology, while retaining the range’s focus on adjustable actuation and competitive gaming features.
