Personally, I feel that it has been a long time since I have enjoyed a Call of Duty game. My time playing the original Modern Warfare series was the pinacol for me when it came to gameplay and pure fun. Don’t get me wrong I did like World at War and the WWII, but they just lacked for some reason that I just couldn’t explain. Zombies started off as something new and fresh in the series but personally I feel as it has gone off on such a tangent that it should realistically become its own game rather than still carry the Call of Duty banner. Then don’t get me started on the Black Ops series and the Advanced futuristic side of it, as more additions to the series came out it felt like it was losing what I originally loved which was the modern warfare element to it which for me was the basic attachments to weapons, weapons based off real guns and not having over the top wacky costumes for characters, weapons and the ridiculous jetpacks/Exo-suits. So, it goes without saying that the franchise for me has had to go full circle, to finally release a game that I’m truly pumped about after playing the Open Beta on the PlayStation 4.
It offers just a small slice of the action and I could happily just sit there for hours and play it without getting bored. It felt so much like what I was used to when I truly enjoyed the Call of Duty Franchise. I recently had this nostalgia with the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered and was hoping that they might go back to this sort of gameplay for the future instalments and thank god they listened and saw just how much people wanted them to go back to the heydays of the series.
With cool new additions, such as Gunfight and the night visions mode it brought something refreshing to a franchise that has been going for some time now. We saw the return of modes like Team Deathmatch and Domination that players love to play repeatedly without fail. The tweaks they made to the loadout segment were a nice touch as you can customise your whole loadout to suit your favoured style with you being able to add your favourite attachments to weapons and made each one your own. Either through people in the Beta were using the same weapons as me, they felt a little different when picked off the floor because they would have different attachments on them catered to them. It is nice having kill streaks again, I prefer these to the scorestreaks that have been in the previous few instalments.
After only playing it for two days I can already say that I’m pumped and can’t wait for the full game to be realised. There is so much more that I haven’t even played and am really excited to see what else this fantastic game will throw at us when it releases on October 25th 2019. I’m really looking forward to the campaign and the other multiplayer modes such as Ground War that I’ll be able to get a feel for before the release of the game thanks to the other open beta weekend. For people anyone that has doubted the series or might feel as though it hasn’t been the same since the Modern Warfare days then hold onto your butts and get ready for a nostalgia ride of a lifetime. Playing this made me remember the days when I used to come home from school, get the squad together and play for hours without a care in the world. From the snippet of features, we got to play in the Beta I can truly say this Call of Duty game will be the best one since Black Ops. Which for me will mean time off work, late nights and hours of gaming goodness?
