Call of Duty Modern Warfare had taken players by storm when it was released, and its new Battle Royale mode Warzone continues to do so. Over three seasons players have battled hard and earned numerous rewards, but just at the brink of a new season, things appear to have not gone as planned as the upcoming season 4 was delayed. While players will have to wait until it releases, here is everything we know about it so far.
Release Date Delay
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 4 was originally scheduled to be launched on June 3rd, however, due to the current events happening all across the US, the release date has been delayed indefinitely. This information along with an explanation has been tweeted on the official Call of Duty Twitter page which you can read below.
The official tweet:
“While we all look forward to playing the new seasons of Modern Warfare, Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile, now is not the time. We are moving the launches of Modern Warfare Season 4 and Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 to later dates. Right now, it’s time for those speaking up for equality, justice, and change to be seen and heard. We stand alongside you.”
Since June 2nd, Infinity Ward launched a double XP event which also includes double Battle Pass progression for Call of Duty: Warzone.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 4 Battle Pass
We know that Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 4 will feature a new Battle Pass, however, what we don’t know is what that Battle Pass will include. Assuming that the new Battle Pass will have similar features and structure as the previous ones, it is more than likely that it will feature a new operator. Along with a new operator, the Season 4 Battle Pass will feature 100 new progression tiers and will likely cost 1000 Call of Duty points which translates into around $9.99/£8.39. Players will also be given the option to purchase the Battle Pass bundle which will allow them to skip 20 Battle Pass tiers. This bundle will set players back 2400 Call of Duty points or $19.99/£16.79. As with previous Battle Passes, players will be able to earn COD points while progressing through the tiers which means that if they play the game enough, they will be able to obtain the next Battle Pass without spending any real money on it.
New Weapons
With the launch of the new COD Season, we can surely expect some new weapons, and recently, there have been numerous leaks that pretty much confirm that. Galil and Vector which are also referred to as the Fennec are most likely the next weapons that are going to appear in Call of Duty Modern Warfare. This is further strengthened by the new story trailer in which we can see some of the weapons but only for a brief moment. Speaking of new weapons, not too long ago, a Redditor posted a long list filled with possibly upcoming content that awaits us in the new season. The list features new operators as well as possible weapon attachments and new weapons among which are Rytec AMR, G28, and AN-94.
New Maps
New weapons are not the only new content that is coming to Call of Duty Modern Warfare in the next season. Some fans have noticed that the latest trailer from Infinity Ward featured a section of a map called Scrapyard which is a very popular Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer map. While Scrapyard is already featured in Verdansk, the trailer strongly implies that it could be making a comeback in the form of a multiplayer map in the upcoming season. Circling back to the Reddit post that we already mentioned, five other maps could also be making an appearance as multiplayer maps. Additionally, four new Gunfight maps are also included on the list.
Multiplayer Maps:
- Scrapyard
- Oilrig
- Broadcast
- Garden
- Harbor
Gunfight Maps:
- Drainage
- Train
- Trench
- Townhouse
While a lot of this information has not yet been officially confirmed, some areas mentioned above have already appeared in Warzone which does give it some form of credibility.
New Operator
We already mentioned that we will most likely be getting a new operator with the upcoming COD season. However, who that operator will be is still up in the air. The one character who is very likely to be the next operator and is currently the fan-favorite is Captain Price. While we have no official confirmation, the already mentioned trailer puts Captain Price in the spotlight so it is not too much of a stretch to assume that he will be the next operator.
New Modes
Finally, there is a strong possibility that Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 4 will bring players new modes. Warzone has recently added duos to its mode list and now players can choose between solo matches, duos trio, quads, and plunder mode.
In the previously mentioned Reddit post, three new modes have been outlined under the names Juggernaut, Jailbreak, and TDM Anywhere. Each one of them comes with their own twists and set of rules. Juggernaut mode will be centered around players battling each other in order to obtain special crates. The Jailbreak mode is speculated to have players redeployed in the Gulag during specific times of the match which has the potential to be very interesting and put a unique spin on the gameplay. Not much is known about the TDM Anywhere mode, but so far, it appears that it will most likely be some form of a deathmatch.
While Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 4 has been delayed, things don’t look too bad for it. With all of the information that has been confirmed so far and everything that has been speculated on Reddit and other community websites, it looks like the Call of Duty fans can expect another exciting season.
