Sample Core, the new graphics engine powering the upcoming Update 1.0 for World of Tanks PC, in the standalone enCore demo
Thundering onto PC this year is Update 1.0 for World of Tanks, powered through renewed energy thanks to Wargaming’s in-house Core engine. Eager players and tech-enthusiasts alike can get a sneak peek at how the game will look like upon release using enCore. This standalone program can be installed directly from http://wotencore.net/.
enCore enables players to check how their PC will handle the new graphics arriving in Update 1.0. All you have to do is choose from three presets, fine-tune resolution or anti-aliasing settings, and finally run the test. The three-minute test runs a visually stunning display of Update 1.0’s gameplay moments, highlighting principal new graphical features. Following the test, players will be provided with the result indicating a low, medium, or high performance rating.
The new graphics engine, Core, has been in development for over 4 years and was engineered in-house. Update 1.0 will see World of Tanks PC switch to this new engine and take advantage of the latest technology for graphics processing and rendering. Core’s introduction marks a new era for World of Tanks PC with PBR, post-processing effects, advanced lighting and shading, particle effects, and a multitude of other optimisation and performance-enhancing features. The engine has been specifically built that those playing on low-end PCs will still be able to enjoy the experience whilst seeing improvements in performance, all on the same hardware previously required to run the game.
For a breakdown of the graphical features in Core:
Core boosts image fidelity and improves image quality and clarity of detail to ultimately deliver sleek modern visuals, using the latest Physically-Based Rendering technology for graphical content processing and rendering. It’ll bring a full graphical makeover with:
- Advanced lighting system (Global illumination technology that accurately simulates how light reflects and refracts between different surfaces adding harmony to the picture)
- Revamped terrain (vast outland, realistic textures, deformation and soaking effects)
- Responsive water (all-new water rending system, deformation, sea foam, and underwater effects)
- Diverse volumetric flora (special interaction effects between vehicles and flora and light transmission),
- Photorealistic skyboxes and moving clouds give arenas a bit more of a dynamic feel
- Improved dynamic shadows (Adaptive Shadow Maps technology)
- Destructible Objects (Havok® Destruction technology)
- A variety of new and improved post-processing effects (Bloom, god rays, chromatic aberration, and screen space reflection)
MAPS: The update will introduce 25+ maps fully reworked in HD using the Core engine. Every single element on these maps is getting redesigned to meet modern graphical standards. Space will become more realistically illuminated, battlefields will feel more dynamic and active, and everything will look much clearer and nicer.
NO FPS DROPS: Overhauled visuals together with dynamic soundtrack will make a huge difference to the look and feel of gameplay with no adverse effect on performance. We put extra work to optimize stability and frame rate on medium settings and older PCs, while maintaining the improved visual fidelity.
- Graphical sub-systems were reworked using streaming technology to reduce the overall memory footprint of graphics
- Graphic elements were optimized to reduce the memory load even further and give you the headroom to enable extra effects.
CHECK IT FOR YOURSELF: A special demo program, World of Tanks enCore 2018, gives you an early hands-on with enhanced visuals and new music. You can replay a video of a battle and test your game station at the same time to see how the overhauled game will perform on different configurations and get your systems ready for the new World of Tanks.
