I was exceptionally happy to be invited to this years EGX at the Birmingham NEC, where I was introduced to Craig Marketing and Communications Manager for the indie game “Lifeless”.
What is Lifeless? ever played DayZ? well its similar to that game, this is the description from the Steam Store,
‘May 2021. Ten years have passed since patient zero. Ten years since the world turned into an infected wasteland… Two factions fight over resources, whilst battling an ever-growing menace of infected humans. How will you choose to survive?
Lifeless is a Massively Multiplayer Survival game, where you cooperate between players to survive a hostile environment. Experience the world with brutal, bloody combat, detailed environments, unique player skills, traders, merchants, and more.
With regular updates throughout Early Access, you can work with us to help shape the future of Lifeless!’
WelI was told that Lifeless was a little bit about like DayZ, such as ‘Lifeless’ is a multiplayer PC game based on a zombie apocalyptic world event set in the year 2021, with the main aim of this game, survive. The unique part about this Lifeless are the factions, the civilian Nova Guard, or the crazed Spartan Phalanx, each with their own safe zones with merchants and traders to work with.
The unique part about this Lifeless are the factions, the civilian Nova Guard, or the crazed Spartan Phalanx, each with their own safe zones with merchants and traders to work with. when you first join the game, you join a server, join a faction and work together as a team or go it alone, the choice is yours, just remember you will battling real players as well as zombies.
The biggest challenge when we decided to create Lifeless was creating some unique to the genre, as there are already plenty of apocalyptic games on the market, so we have to make sure this game is not a quick cash grab, while the franchise is popular. So we are creating the game with a fair price point, with constant updates, to improve the game and the player’s experience. This is one of the hardest challenges when creating Lifeless, creating new content that challenges the player, that is new and unique.
This has to be a very exciting for the gamer, to always have something to look forward to, the developers and always testing out new ideas, developments, also adding new skills and features such as new zombies, many of these updated will comes in the update called ‘Screamer’.
Changing cosmetic items of your characters appearance is something everyone in enjoys doing once in a while, picking new shoes, clothing and accessories are what makes your character unique in the server.
One of the great things I think about this game are the PVP events which are scheduled weekly. Contained within these events are these so called mysterious box’s which includes supplies and other useful resources, which drops from the sky and lands in a specific location on the map. Each member of both teams will then have to try and get this to their safe zone for a further reward for their faction. Finding new items such as food and drink can be competitive on the server but new items spawn regularly and more accurately with the update.
If you can’t find any weapons and items, being able to sell scraps in exchange for items in the economy is a fun and easy way to get new gear, you can also repair your damaged weapons using scrap from the inventory you have amassed.
There is also a storyline within the game thanks to having NPCs which add a whole new experience to the game itself.
The games graphics is really clear and lifelike, no pun intended, the overall appearance of the towns and places are what you would expect it to be like during an apocalypse, with towns ruined, buildings collapsing and cars on fire, these features really exaggerate on how crisis struck these areas have become. The games map size is huge with plenty of places to explore, it makes the game feel like an endless zombie experience with many new areas to discover. My impression from playing the game is that it feels extremely well-designed.
Lifeless is definitely a have game if you’re into role-playing, action and apocalyptic based games, it is really engrossing. The game developers have worked hard to make the game as lag free as possible, testing the game out really made me convinced that they might have just done this.
