It is truly amazing how popular Fortnite Battle Royale has become. It is one of those stories that we are all going to talk about years from now. A story about how a game that started out as a wave-based fort building third person shooter tried something new and crossed their fingers for success. That success was built on constant community feedback, speedy updates, and quirky gameplay that has people hooked the second they step in.
Fortnite Battle Royale has seen a rise to popularity that no other game has ever seen before. Twitch streams have broken records for viewership. YouTube has seen the most videos of one specific game take a stranglehold on any other content. This is truly something spectacular.
The real question is: how long can Epic’s Fortnite Battle Royale keep it up? The answer: Until October.
There is one game that is about to take over the world. This one game will include a Battle Royale mode that will devour the competition and steal people away by the boatloads. This ONE GAME will take over your world and you know it. The game: Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2.
Rockstar Games has a knack for taking over the world. The whole globe was waiting for the drop of Grand Theft Auto V and when it hit, there was no looking back. People bought that game instantly and loved every second of it. Once the game showed off the online mode it became even more popular and is still popular today. No it does not include a Battle Royale mode but it had a custom map/mission editor to create an infinite number of experiences for the entire user base.
Red Dead Redemption 2, set to release October 26th 2018, is the Fortnite killer. Do you need proof? Activision’s Call of Duty Black Ops 4 release date got switched from early November to early October to avoid Rockstar’s new release window. They got scared. One AAA title got scared of another AAA title. That has got to tell you something.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will have multiplayer modes. One of those modes will be Battle Royale. A Western setting, classic gunplay, horses, trains, mountains, and polished Rockstar gameplay makes for a successful mode that will become instantly popular. We all know that Rockstar is going to stay on top of this mode and ensure that it stays updated constantly for users coming over from Fortnite.
Everyone sees Fortnite’s success and how Epic is able to accomplish it. They want to replicate it. They want to be it. There is no better development team to do this other than Rockstar Games. Mark it on your calendars. October 26th 2018 is the date that Fortnite dies a slow death.
