With the recent upgrade to my setup, I felt that I might as well go the full hog with getting a new mouse and keyboard to go with everything. My poison was the Xenon 770. It looked comfortable, colourful and above all allowed me to customise the side panels depending on what games I was playing, making this “rodent” fully flexible for FPS gamers as well as MMO Players which I thought was fantastic. Killing two birds with one stone, instead of having to buy multiple peripherals you can buy the one and just swap the functions around whenever you want. So, of course, you can see why I wouldn’t be excited to get my hands on this as it’s realistically to mice in one.
First impressions
When my “rodent” arrived it came well packaged and secure. When I removed it from the packaging it was encased in cardboard and had a plastic mould around it that held the Xenon in place which was good as well as the extra side panels being held in place so that they were not just freely moving around inside the box. The cable was tucked neatly inside and when I removed it from the box it was easy to undo the cable tie and get the ball rolling. At first, it was confusing to see how the side panels actually came off the Xenon but once you see the little grooves on the underside of the mouse, you just simply remove the side panels and they pop off. They are magnetised so they slot in and stay in place which is awesome and easy to do, on top of this you don’t have to mess around with screws and screwdrivers when you want to change them. Once you plug the mouse in you are welcomed with the most beautiful colour display, personally I believe this has to be up there with one of the most visually pleasing mice on the market. The logo, base and wheel all glow and certainly light up my desk and of course with me being a huge fan of the colour black the mouse ticks another visually pleasing box for me. What I didn’t realise straight away, which I will let you readers know is that you will have to install a program to help with the running of your mouse. It’s surprisingly simple just head over to the Genesis website and searches for the Xenon 770, once installed it will allow you to set up the mouse to your exact liking, from button mapping, the DPI and the lighting.
This is my new mouse
Using this mouse is actually so much more comfortable than my last one. The fact that it has two side panels that offer different posture on the mouse is fantastic because it gives me the chance to find which one I prefer and find most comfortable using. It glides across my mat with ease and feels so effortless which is perfect. When I’m just browsing social media and searching the web it just feels like any other mouse it’s when I load up a game, that’s when the Xenon 770 truly comes to life. It makes it more enjoyable and comfortable for me, having these buttons on the side of my mouse makes it so much easier to use the abilities when I’m playing Final Fantasy XIV Online and League of Legends. Then when I feel like playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Fortnite I can simply replace the left side panel and use the FPS functions to make it much easier to use my equipment and heals. This mouse has really helped me as a gamer, I would always use my PS4 controller when playing First or third person shooters because it just feels natural to me and I felt like I wasn’t at a disadvantage but after using the Xenon 770 I can honestly say it feels nicer and if not allows me to respond quickly to what’s happening in-game.
The in house program for the mouse is very user-friendly and allows you to make various mapping options to suit your gaming needs, I love spending time setting up the lights on the mouse and seeing all the different functions that it can do. I know I have a simple mind but it’s something that adds to the whole experience when using this mouse. Its’s UI is perfect and not once did I ever feel lost while using the software. What I find brilliant is that the mouse comes with built-in memory so when you have finished mapping everything, everything is stored on the mouse and can be used on any computer that the mouse is plugged into and allows you to cycle through the different maps you have made easily. This will help gamers that love using their own peripherals at competitions or around friends’ house. The only negative I have found with the mouse is on a few occasions, I was clicking, but the mouse was not registering the click, the mouse will register movement as I can see the cursor moving around my screen but I can’t select anything. It was easy to fix, I just unplug it and plug it back in. It hasn’t happened luckily to me while in-game but I can see it being very irritating if it becomes a common occurrence.

Conclusion
I never really understood the meaning of a good set up for a long time, when it came to PC gaming as up till now I was mainly a console gamer but after using this mouse I can see that it goes a long way when enhancing your gaming experience. The Xenon 770 is aimed perfectly towards gamers like me who love a good MMO and FPS, on a daily bases, I’m logging into Call of Duty and Fortnite to do challenges and then jumping onto Final Fantasy. So having a mouse that caters for different gaming genres is more enjoyable and makes it feel more fluid when playing, it is fantastic. On top of this, you have the flat black colour that comes with customisable RGB display and the ability to change the DPI to what setting suits you the best. If you are in the market for a new mouse or might just want an upgrade as I did, then the Xenon 770 is the right mouse for you. The price for this awesome mouse varies online but it is worth every penny, I don’t think I could ever go back to a standard mouse now after using this one and for those reasons, I’m more than happy to give it a 9/10
