“Base in the place Ceiber”, does not have the same effect as the Blade Sound Track “Base in the place, London” but what I am reviewing currently puts BASE in any place, the new Goodmans Base.
A single block of pure sound and power which pushes out more base and sound into your room that anything I have currently tested.
So what’s in the box, and how will I know this is for me from the box?
From the shop you would most likely see the actual product being demonstrated, just incase though, on the front of the box you will see the word ‘BASE’ bold and large. Under the ‘BASE’, comes with a brief overview ‘6 Speaker HD Sound Technology, fills the room with incredible sound’.
Also Goodmans has chosen to show a slanted side view of the base, which looks like a flat screen TV on top of it, and finally in the far left right hand order ‘Bluetooth’.
Moving to one of the sides, as the other side is blank, again ‘BASE’ in bold with a slight change to the overview ‘6 Speaker All in One Sound Enhancement for TV’. Followed by the features:
- 2 Channel Speaker System
- Stream music Via Bluetooth
- NFC Tap & Pair
- Dirac HD Sound
- Digital Optical Input
- Digital Coaxial Input
- 5mm Jack input
- RCA input
- Remote control
- 100W RMS
Finally turned on its back ‘BASE’ again with the same overview as used on the side, with and more indepth description about the Goodmans BASE speaker system, while also promoting its connectivity, power and speaker set-up.
So what’s in the box? Well that’s simple, the Goodmans BASE of coarse, wrapped up really well, the unit is well protected with plenty of polystyrene to protect from breakage while in transit or from accidental ‘Opps I dropped it’. You will also find the Guarantee booklet, quick start guide, a very basic controller and the power cord.
The Design, what of it
Have a small room, not much space for a sound bar in front of the wonderful TV of yours, have no fear the BASE is here, and it’s fitting nicely under your TV thanks to its hard top, utilizing what space you have without affecting audio quality.
With its 6 speakers encased in a fitting design, pumping out 100w of audio supremacy, its like you are there in the cinema, when the BASE is pumping hard. Its not slim, that’s for certain, you could use the term sleek to describe it, it’s well suited for your digital world and does not look out of place. The BASE weighs in at 4.26kgs with a total size of 227x250x385, it is heavy to a degree and it does look well built, book ignore the looks, this unit will make you bounce, or as my cat found out ‘jump’.
Personal Use
Setting up the BASE was easy, but picking up the flat TV with Cats around my legs wanting attention was not. Once the BASE was on the TV unit and my TV was put on top of the BASE, I decided to use the Digital Optical input over other input opions. I decided to use Digital Optical input, after I did some research online, to find out what was better, apart from HDMI the next best alternative would have been this.
First, I tested out the NFC Tap & Pair with my HTC One mobile phone, decided to play some of the music I have stored on the system, what a surprise I had, crystal clear with no pauses or sound issues, with the streaming process. The BASE was bouncing, and I mean Bouncing, I like to listen to Hands-Up music which is full of base and techno type compilations, and turning up the Goodmans BASE to Max (treble & Base that is, not sound, the floor moved, and my cats, well their faces said it all,’ shocked’.
Next it was to Bluetooth my MSI GS70 laptop over to the BASE and play some Advance Warfare, BOOM, welcome to WAR, explosions are immense and it feels like your whole living room is being rocked by War, not recommended for the faint at heart, you might need to change your pants afterwards. Again, there was no streaming issues and the sound was crystal clear with no lag.
Next it was Movie night, and Godzilla has just been released on Sky Movies, a perfect film to test with the BASE. Pound, Pound as Godzilla walked across the screen, BOOM as the nuke goes off, ROAR as Godzilla laid waste his enemies. The BASE was like being in a Cinema, it’s a wonder my neighbours never complained about it. Add some more Bluetooth speakers around the living room to add more depth and immersion, then I can tell you now, apart from the size of the TV Screen you will have a Cinema in your home.
Finally, I played my Wii U and Bayonetta 2, to get to the point everything equalled BASE, everything sounded clearer, it was like a whole new way to listen to everything.
Final Thoughts
BASE in the place Ceiber, as I started the review, BASE is what this Goodman unit is, BASE is what it delivers by the bucket load, as Jazzy Jeff once said “Boom! Shake the Room” this is what you will get.
This is a beast of a unit and a must have sound system for any home, plenty of connection opportunities, easy to set up, if no cats or children around your feet, and very easy to use. I cannot recommend this more, please put your money on this over a sound bar any day you will not regret it, I promise, The BASE on this is just perrrfect.
