Suncrash Studios is excited to announce that its successful game Judgment: Apocalype Survival Simulation, currently available on Steam Early Access, has now received the Update 15.1, receives today Update 15.1, with a new level up system for its characters, among other new features.
Suncrash felt that the level up system (the “Choose 1 of 3” seen in games such as XCOM) was out of sync. Many of the skills were just stat improvements and not game-changing abilities, plus there were so many different skills in the game, that it just didn’t work like that. The community has voiced the same opinion many times; listening to this feedback, and despite having released a major update just a few weeks ago, Suncrash decided to work in a new experience system for Judgment.
Now, with every level up players will get a skill point which can be used to improve one of 8 skill categories. The more you improve in the same category, the better the rewards, and at tier 4 of each category you get some special skills, more than just stats in most cases. In some cases, you may even select one of several skills when improving a category, allowing for even more customization.
Available categories depend on the survivor’s profession, and now you can choose any of those to improve, without any RNG limitations. But it was still important for the game to have a random element (because part of the challenge is to make the best of what you get) and not just use the same winning strategy every time you play. For that reason, characters will still be created with random skills, which tend to have a very large impact – even larger than most level up skills.
Leveling up isn’t the only big change that comes with Update 15.1. Efficiency is another stat that will let you check on how much work a person or the entire colony can get done. You can read all the details about the new features in this update here.
Suncrash wants to remind players that they can still use old saves (though all characters will lose its level-up skills and will get skill points) and that old mods will continue to work despite not being able to show the new level up system.
