Another month and another update. November is a slightly thinner update after last month’s addition that brings a new monster and a volcanic region for the Guiding Lands. Although that is due to the fact that the contents this time around is split between two collaboration events. Starting from the batter’s box is Capcom’s very own Resident Evil series that brings in full armor sets and a reworked monster to fit in with its core mechanics while near the end of the month we’ll be seeing the return of Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn which considering had its Frozen Wilds expansion feels all too at home with Monster Hunter World’s Iceborne expansion.
However, while it’s mostly about the collaboration events, the first part of the update also brings in more balance changes such as the fix to Brute Tigrex B Helmet which incidentally gives Free Meal 2 instead of 1 despite its Alpha version only giving the base of 1 pre-update. While it doesn’t particularly make the set less powerful it does make current builds cough up another satiated decoration to get the 75% effect. Greatsword players and their favorite Wyvern Ignition is finally getting back some love this month too now that its upgrade tree has been expanded to fit in the Rarity 12 version by finishing the event quest, Every Hunter’s Dream III that also gives special tickets to craft the Black Eagle Charge Blade, the winning entry for the Weapon Design Contest. Last but not least is a Palico thing, the Rarity 10 Wiggler set inside a clay pot with a water-based weapon made up of coral reefs. Not the most efficient of base stats but it’s undoubtedly a really cool set to show off in your guild card once you’ve done a couple of hunts in Every Hunter’s Dream II event quest.
The first two hunts, Every Hunter’s Dream II and III are straightforward fights with the first one expecting you to hunt a Coral Pukei-pukei in the Coral Highlands while the second part puts you in the arena with a Nightshade Paolumu that inflicts the annoying sleep status so bringing an energy drink is advisable and at the same time with the Nargacuga that can also inflict status effects from its porcupine-like tail as it shoots off some of those thorns like a ninja throwing a kunai that puts you in a bleeding state.
However, the Resident Evil Collaboration Event quest puts a bit of a spin towards the regular Blackveil Vaal Hazak fight. Here, players will be inflicted by the zombie status effect when taking enough effluvial damage instead of decreasing your max health. You can remove the status by consuming the unique vegetation, the green herb that will be scattered throughout Rotten Vale from that specific quest alone or when passing through cleansing boosters and while I haven’t tried it for myself I would assume that immunity mantle will provide the same effect. But depending on your playstyle, being a zombie, in this case, might not be such a bad status effect. You get fast HP regeneration when the weapon is sheathed especially when in areas with effluvial gas in the air, this also hardens your skin which makes you naturally obtain a rocksteady mantle effect, in return, you don’t recover health naturally when equipped with Vaal Hazak’s Super Recovery or via health augmentation when attacking. This also removes your dodging abilities which makes you a literal mindless zombie.
But like I said, depending on your playstyle, there are weightier advantages to going into keeping the zombie form than cleansing it every time you turn. If you’ve played through or played with Wyvernsnipe Heavy Bowgun users, you’ll notice that the backbone of the build relies on clutch claw weapon attacks dealing tons of damage in a single shot and spamming it until their temporal and rocksteady mantles get depleted. So what if a zombie has a natural rocksteady effect? Then you can literally spam the move without the worry of getting knocked off making the fight itself one easy spam of the same moves over and over again. It’s a bit of a cheese strat but it works, it works so damn well.
Now once that’s all done, you’re also given the zombify and zombie bite gestures as well as new room accessories like rugs, wall paintings as well as new songs for the music player, an item box and an interactable typewriter to save your game other than the new Full Armor Sets with Leon and Claire. Both of which provides set bonuses of Agitator Secret and Zombie nullification while providing 7 levels on Agitator with some minor differences like Claire having Stamina Surge, Evade Window and a point of Normal Shot and Leon’s set providing Attack Boost, Weakness Exploit and one point for Spread. The set, however, doesn’t bring in a lot of decoration slots with some parts only bringing level one deco slots while some of it has level four among a few others. There’s also the new pendants that can be crafted like a talking Tofu and badges to put on your favourite weapons.
Overall, it’s still a pretty sizable update that provides you more hours to grind for, new sets to collect whether or not it becomes the META and overall just more fun times with your friends or the random people you get to team up with from whatever part of the globe. Stay tuned for more updates in the near future!
