Non-Stop Knight(NSK), a game that takes a very unique approach to the “endless” style of mobile game, developed by Flaregames who have made quite a few mobile games before this one. Among the hundreds of other games on mobile devise, NSK aims to put itself above the rest though it still falls under the endless style of games. Similarly to games like Tower of Hero you control a Knight who must reach the end of a seemingly endless Tower and defeat the monsters that lie within.
Story
Like many mobile and endless games there isn’t much for a story, you start off with a Knight telling you he needs your help to delve deeper into the dungeon, acting as a sort of tutorial for you. As you delve deeper the monsters get harder as well as appearing in bigger numbers. From here it just divulges into a kill everything mission with some emphasis on multiplayer through the user of leader boards.
Gameplay
Like other endless games you don’t really need any input to play the game, simply load it up and the Knight will run through the dungeon for you, killing any enemy he or she comes into contact with. As the knight kills enemies and bosses he will gain exp, gold and items to equip which you will need to take control of. It is really up to you how the knight will progress, levelling up his main attack, his defence or his skills.
Speaking of skills those arse also player side, while you knight rushes about you have the ability to active any 3 of his skills, from spinning slashes or leaps to shadow clones or teleporting slash attacks. You can move these skills around as you have 3 slots to attach 6 different skill types to, each with their own progressions of stats and effects.
Your knight will travel the dungeon his own but will stop just before the bosses, waiting on you to tell them to carry on. As you pass through the levels you will be gaining Tokens that can be redeemed when you “Ascend” the tower, this games version of resetting/new game+. The tokens can then be spent in the shop to permanently improve your knight’s damage, skill damage, defence, coin drops, token gain rate etc.
Like many other Clicker and Endless games it will grind up money for you, eventually reaching a cap of gold. Loading the game up will deposit the gold into your stash for immediate use, allowing for a very quick return to the game after some time away. On top of the passive Gold you can also watch videos for a reward in-game or pay real money for Gems to purchase Tokens.
Overall Thoughts and Feelings
The music in NSK sounds very similar to The Sims with a hint of Disney, though there is only 3 or 4 tracks that you will hear for a majority of the game. It does fit the gameplay as well as the aesthetic of the game however it can become quite dull after a while, though with mobile gaming it isn’t very often you will have it at full volume. Besides the music in the game the sound effects fit the weapons and skills they are attached too, though they can end up being a lot louder than the music.
Pitting NSK against other endless or clicker games it does feel as if it comes out on top, from its pleasing aesthetic and gameplay. The animations are rather pleasing and will draw you attention to the game that is in the background of your actions and the progression is in line with games of the same genre. However that isn’t saying too much when a lot of similar games don’t have a lot of effort put into them or are merely pay-to-win cash grabs for a younger audience. NSK has a lot of work put into it, when it doesn’t essentially need all that work.
Overall Non-Stop Knight gets a 7/10, while it is better than most other phone games of its genre it doesn’t really allow for long playing sessions. Coming back after some time is the best strategy as it rewards you with the same gold, there is little to no story and only really improves on systems already in play by other games. If you’re a fan of the genre this will be for you, however if you’re in the market for a game with more meat on its bones you might be better off with some of the other titles on the market.
