We’re back with another Planet Zoo DLC Pack and this time we are getting into the spooky Halloween and autumn spirit with the Twilight Pack. When I first saw the trailer for this DLC pack I was super excited to see all the new scenario pieces that are heavily inspired by gothic architecture. I also was hyped for all the Halloween decorations that were shown off too. Planet Zoo never disappoints with its consent updates and DLC pack to keep the players playing and give us more to do in terms of gameplay and scenario so that our imaginations can create spectacular Zoos and blueprints.
You might be wondering what’s on offer for those who dare pick up the Twilight Pack, it comes with five new animals, 200+ scenery pieces, and the first new career scenario since the release of Planet Zoo. Like with all the other DLC packs I have covered in the past the selling point is always having new animals and with the Twilight back we get some mischievous little critters that are so loveable and adorable.
The animals included are:
- Racoons
- Red Foxes
- Wombat
- Striped Skunk
- Egyptian fruit bat (Exhibit animal)
These animals are a nice addition to any zoo especially the Egyptian fruit bat as they come with an all-new walk-through exhibit, this for me was cool as it reminded me of Chester Zoo when you get to walk through the bat enclosure and have the bat just skimming past you in the dark. To see this implemented into Planet Zoo was a surprise and I enjoyed using the camera to go inside the exhibit and watching the bats fly around. Also, you can customise the inside of the exhibit with different pieces to make the bat feel more comfortable and enough enrichment for them to thrive and feel happy.
The Red Foxes, Wombats, Racoons, and Striped Skunk are nice additions, but they are made nicer with the added scenario that can be implemented into their habitats. You also get to see these animals in a more natural setting rather than the urban environment that sadly has become their homes in the world due to population increase and the building of new houses and property. Though what I could spend hours doing is watching the Red Foxes playing in the cardboard boxes and the Wombats playing with the new pouncing pumpkins ball, it is super adorable and keeps me distracted for far too long when I have a zoo to run.
Then we come onto the new scenery pieces, if you are a lover of Autumn, Halloween, and Gothic-inspired structures then this pack is right up your street. You can embrace the Twilight with bubbling cauldrons, spider web props, and my favourite glowing pumpkins to give your park that spooky witches forest vibes while they walk around your zoo. If this wasn’t enough, we also get a huge amount of new architectural components including walls, towers timber, and metals so that you can create villages and even castles for your zoo. There are premade structures for those that might want to have prebuilt buildings already made for them but for the creative players, there are enough scenery pieces to keep you busy for hours while you create zoos that scream Transylvania, haunted forest, and give your guest a whole new complete original zoo. Though try not to scare away all your guests, the zoo still needs people to come and visit all these new additions that the Twilight Pack comes with.
If that wasn’t enough for you, then how about a brand-new career scenario? This pack comes with the first new career scenario since its release. It welcomes you the player to Transylvania, where you will have to adopt, care for, and build beautiful habitats for an array of different species one of these being the new Red Foxes. Not only this but you will have the opportunity to rescue a Himalayan Brown Bear from a rich socialite, reverse the fortunes of your struggling enterprise, and welcome guests back into the zoo. I loved that we got another career scenario as I enjoyed this part of the game, I prefer the career scenarios over the timed ones, so it was nice to see Frontier bring us this scenario.
Conclusion
Fantastic is one word I would use to describe my time playing with all the new content that comes with the Twilight Pack. For an asking price of £7.99, I would honestly have to say that this pack is worth every single penny. It would have been worth it with just the new animals and 200+ scenery pieces as me and my other half enjoyed making a heavily Halloween-inspired Zoo with all the new animals having spooky-looking habitats with the help of the 200+ scenery pieces, it was so cool. The fact that we also got a new career scenario that was enjoyable to play, kind of sealed the deal for me as being one of the best DLC packs to date that has come out of Planet Zoo. I loved watching the Red Foxes in the burrows through the camera and I could spend ages watching the bats fly around in the new exhibit enclosures it was just fantastic. I can’t wait to see what blueprints the community come up with and see everyone else’s zoos and for that reason, I’m giving this DLC pack a well-deserved 9 out of 10. I can’t wait to see what Frontier will do next, maybe an Aqua Park Pack that comes with Seals, Sealions, and penguins, and then we might be able to get Aquariums but until the next DLC pack, happy zoo building.
