The Razer Invitational series is a cause for celebrating. The company’s dedication and commitment to the gaming and esports segment have been growing over the years, but it is through the launch of the Invitational series that this dedication has come to the fore. Over the past years, competitive gaming has gained popularity rapidly in places such as the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Razer has always been there to support these developments. In 2021, though, the company has decided to go all-in on the Middle East region by introducing its signature series – the Razer Invitational (ME), for the Middle East.
Games and Focus of Razer Invitational ME
As you can imagine, the event is purely focused on the competitive side of gaming. The Razer Invitational has made sure to feature some of the most compelling and exciting gaming franchises out there and it has been very successful. Players in the Middle East are battling in several well-established competitive titles, including:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Valorant
- PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile
- League of Legends
All four games are considered defining franchises in competitive gaming. The company has similarly featured some of the most talented gamers in the region, bringing in players from Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar. The festival focuses on creating the most ambitious and exciting eSports competition for the Middle East. Even the local casinos are picking up on the popularity of eSports, which is quickly picking up on the rest of the world.
Razer’s efforts just add to the region’s growing love for eSports and with many talented gamers from the region, including women, there is a lot of untapped potential in ME. Thankfully, Razer’s event is here to fix that and allow players to really pick up the pace and enjoy some of the most compelling eSports action.
Why Does The Razer Invitational ME Matter?
There are many objective reasons why the event is quite significant for the region. The Middle East is traditionally a populous region, but gaming has been taking a backseat for the longest time. Competitive events are only now getting started and there will be a lot of building to do to reach the full potential of the Middle East region.
People in the Middle East are inclined to take up gaming, for sure, but they still need to have the foundation and infrastructure laid out so that gamers can prove their worth and feel more motivated to play competitively. Many talented players from the region have already migrated to western countries where they have been signed up by promising organizations.
The same infrastructure can be developed in the Middle East and allow the creation of a brand new eSports ecosystem – which is underway nevertheless. The Razer’s Invitational is just another step towards the end goal which is to develop a fully-fledged gaming industry in the ME region.
Which Countries Are Expected to Win?
There are many bets running on which country may win. Despite all the great talent on specific teams, many questions hang over the prediction. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates seem to hold an edge; in many ways because their local gaming environments are somewhat better.
They also have many top players who have already proved their worth. However, there is no telling which of those may win. Saudi Arabia has some of the best FIFA players, for example, but unfortunately, FIFA is not one of the available titles. The chosen games are everything and will more or less determine which country wins. Players from the participating countries have their weaknesses and strengths in certain competitive formats. So, the race should really come down to Qatar and the UAE, which seem to have a more diverse profile and are prepared to play to the last man.
A Great Festival with Upcoming Editions
The Razer Invitational is bound to be more than just an isolated event. The dedication the organizers showed has only stoked the passion of local fans that will surely try and find out more about participating in next year’s event. Razer has not yet confirmed a new edition, but interest in the region is strong.
eSports and gaming as a whole have an enormous potential in the Middle East and it’s the goal of companies such as Razer to continue supporting the burgeoning industry so that it reaches its full potential.
