Gaming, in general, is a sector which is in rude health right now. With more people than ever working at home or with extra time to fill in 2020 due to COVID-19, playing video games has become increasingly popular. The overall strength of the video game sector can also be gauged by the revenue of $120.1bn it generated in 2019. With even more profits being projected for 2020, it is a thriving industry.
Of course, gaming as a whole has also received help from the online casino sector to enjoy its current success. Top promotions, including the no deposit free spins listed at Gambling Metropolis, are a major part of why people love to try online slot games and why this gaming niche has grown. Using reputable sites to track down these bonuses is not only wise in terms of the time saved but also the extra money you get to play with.
When it comes to video gaming though, the focus for many in 2020 is the launch of the new Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5 consoles. Many fans have been eagerly saving up to buy one when ready, and they look set to make a real splash. But how much might you need to spend?
Xbox Series X and S
If you are looking to pick up Microsoft’s new Xbox Series X console, you will have to save up a hefty £449. But what do you get for your money when it is released on 10th November 2020? For starters, there is a new eye-catching look which certainly makes it stand out. There are also much better graphics in this model, faster load speeds and redesigned controllers to enjoy. With a raft of new games like ‘DiRT 5’ and ‘Halo Infinite’, it sounds promising. But what about the new, lower-end Series S? To reflect the absence of higher-end processing units, this is due to come in at £250.
PlayStation 5
Interesting news from Sony is that the PS5 looks set to match the price of an Xbox Series X machine. This means it will too cost £449 to buy. Sony have decided to launch their new console slightly later, with a date of 19th November 2020 pencilled in for the UK. As with the new Xbox, the PS5 comes with lots of updates for your money. A custom 825GB SSD gives plenty of room to save games while a 10.28 TFLOPs GPU delivers awesome visuals. For those who like to game 100% online, there will also be a digital version of the PS5 launched with no slot for physical game CDs. This is set to cost less at £360 so might well prove more popular.
Still time to get saving!
As we have noted above, the expected price for both top-end consoles of £449 is not to be taken lightly. This may well see the entry-level Xbox Series S and digital PS5 generate more sales, due to their lower price point. If you fancy picking up one (or all!), there is still a few weeks to get saving hard before they launch.
