Snakebyte Nintendo Switch Car SEAT: MOUNT Review

I have been a switch owner for some time now, I take my switch everywhere, from visiting family, going to events to travelling long distances. When I have friends with me or children I allow them to use my switch while sitting in the back seats. There were a few complaints, first was, can I charge the switch, so I got a car charger for the switch. The next was, is there a way to attach the switch to the back of the chair like a screen for multiplayer, or just watching YouTube videos.

This is now sorted thanks to snakebyte and their Nintendo Switch SEAT: MOUNT.

Now from the get-go you know exactly what this is, the box says it all, but it also confirms that the SEAT: MOUNT can also be used with tablets from 7″ to 10″ in size.

The mount looks and feels very sturdy and even holds the Original Switch and the Switch lite comfortably within its grips and grip material. There is a small button on the right-hand side when looking at the device, which allows you to loosen the grip. To tighten and hold your device the SEAT: MOUNT uses a Hiplok Z-Lok system which keeps your device in place.

There is plenty of adjustments available with this device to get a perfect position when you want to game from a 180-degree screen adjustment to tilt adjustments. You then have the grips that attach to the seat arms, which offers plenty of size positions. If you want a little more info, just watch the video below.

So after fitting the device to my car, grabbed some mates, Mario Kart battles took place. They found playing multi-player games easier, and more fun to play, as it was meant to be. Easy to set up, and easy to manipulate into the perfect position, so all players could see the screen.

I drove over speed bumps, tested the brakes to a degree that would see the passengers move forward, and the mount held the switch in place, it never fell out. We drove for a few hours, while they gamed in the back, and once we all kicked back with Burger King and a Super Smash Bros Match up.

Then there is my little boy who just loves watching In the Night Garden and Bing, so having this on the back of the chair and being able to stream his shows without him touching the screen and turning it off, is for parents, a dream come true.

The idea of the SEAT: MOUNT is simple and works as expected, even better now I know it is safe and sound back there.

But there is one question I have not answered, tablets 7″ – 10″ can be fitted to this device. So I tested out a Samsung Galaxy. Now the Switch is a set thickness, so the grip will fit perfectly, but tablets are all different types of thicknesses. So how did it fair. Well, a thin tablet moved a little, but did not come out of the grip, the popular Samsung Galaxy fitted OK not great, however, this device is not configured to fit any tablet perfect it’s for a Switch.

So yes you can fit your tablet to the device, but it is not 100% perfect, however, every tablet I used/ tested, never fell out, so in a way, the SEAT: MOUNT does offer a reasonable solution to have a tablet attached to the back of your chair for your child to watch his or her favourite programs.

So to be as honest as I can, this is a mount that allows you to play your switch in the car with ease and it does that perfectly. Tablets can be used, but even though snakebyte says it can be used for tablets, try and use a tablet near the same thickness as a Switch. This is a great device for keeping your kids happy, playing together, and enjoying those long journeys.
