The grand final of KFC’s Black Ops 4: Blackout tournament, in partnership with Call of Duty UK took place this Sunday as sixteen teams went head to head to determine who would be crowned KFC’s King of COD.
Spratt and WarsZ conquered the competitive pack defeating Syndicate and Sebi in an epic final following a bracket that saw the pair overcome 5 rounds of competition. In a best of 3, the hotly anticipated final saw the winning pair lose their first match but then strive on, winning the final two matches and the pair staking their claim on their share of a tidy £50k prize pool and the lifetime supply of KFC.
The event brought together sixteen of the UK’s biggest creators such as Syndicate, MiniLadd, Vikkstar123 and Gaz Beadle from Geordie Shore to do battle for the number one spot. Each creator acted as a mentor and coach to their community members.
Community members previously battled it out over 5 weeks in a series of qualifying rounds for the chance to duo with their favourite creator and take their place in the final. The qualifying rounds were a display of tenacity for WarsZ who actually lost in the final of the first ever KFC Royale qualifier with Zerkaa, then battled on through a further 5 qualifiers to finally achieve his dream of competing in the KFC Royale grand finals.
Of the victory, Spratt said “Huge thank you to KFC & Activision for hosting an incredible opportunity for Blackout players across the UK. From watching my future duo battle it out in the qualifiers, to the hours of practice we put in after, I was confident we could put up a good fight. Running through the winners’ bracket and clutching up the grand finals was an unreal feeling. £15k and a lifetime supply of KFC at the end of it all? Well that’s just the cherry on top.”” while a buzzing WarsZ exclaimed “I’m speechless to be honest. The fact I even got into something like this is mind blowing. The prize is one thing, but I think the main thing is meeting all of these new people, people I’ve always wanted to meet. I’ve made some awesome friends and I can’t wait to see what comes next. This tournament made my dream come true!”
WarsZ walked away with £15,000 of the £50k pool with the rest of the prize money shared amongst the remaining community members. KFC have seen to it that the creators don’t miss out, with Spratt getting his hands on an elusive KFC Black Card
