It’s not every day we get to announce a new game. It’s not every day we get to announce a new game set in the Legacy of Kain universe.
Today is such a day, and I can’t express how excited I am… but let’s start at the beginning.
A little while ago you might have noticed a leak about a game called Nosgoth, and at the time we acknowledged this and let people know that the game wasn’t a traditional single-player LoK game.
Well, we’re taking the wraps off now, and we can reveal that Nosgoth is in fact a competitive, team-based Human vs Vampire multiplayer game for Steam on Windows PC being developed by the team at Psyonix – and you’ll be able to play it for free*.
What really makes it unique, though, is its third-person ranged versus melee gameplay. The land of Nosgoth’s Humans utilise an arsenal of devastating ranged weaponry and specialised equipment, whereas its Vampires favour visceral close-up melee attacks augmented by their inhuman abilities. For both sides, strategy, communication and teamwork are key to success.
With multiple classes on each side and scores of items to unlock, including weapons, perks and abilities, we expect players will want to build a selection of character load-outs for not one but both factions.
Check out the announcement trailer, which will tell you a lot more:
The game is still in active development and we’re entering the closed Beta phase soon. We’ll have more information for you over the next few months and at some point we’ll be opening the game up to everybody to try out in an open Beta.
*So, Nosgoth is a free-to-play game – but it’s NOT pay-to-win.
We made the decision to go to free-to-play to break down barriers and let as many players into the game as possible. One of the key goals has been to create a fair experience that doesn’t penalise players who don’t spend money in the game, as such Nosgoth doesn’t include items, weapons or abilities that are inherently better (aka supremacy goods).
