Red Dead Redemption 2
Okay, Red Dead Redemption 2 hasn’t officially been released yet. But from everything we have seen in adverts and online, it is one of the most graphically pleasing games of the year. Red Dead Redemption 2 was supposed to hit shelves back in the summer. Rockstar Games delayed that date and it is now set for a late October release. The prequel to the original Red Dead Redemption will see players travelling across the American west shooting it out with good guys and bad guys. The graphics are so good, they will take players’ deep into the Old West.
Spider-Man
Released in September, the graphics for Spider-Man make it look more like the latest blockbuster film than a video game. The gameplay makes for an exciting Spider-Man game, but the graphics are so good they may keep players coming back when the storylines gets old. The sleek, stunning suit worn by Peter Parker and the setting in which he swings through makes Spider-Man a definite game to play.
God of War
The eighth instalment of the God of War Series was released in April. Based on Norse mythology, players are transported through a world of snow, ice, and axes. Players are closer to the action in God of War as the camera zoom makes for a more intimate fight. Players are so close to the action they will feel the blood and cold on their faces during an axe fight.
Far Cry 5
Based in the American state of Montana, Far Cry 5 is full of shootouts and fast cars. The game sees two rival groups – a cult versus resistance fighters – battle it out on the streets. The action is intense with squealing cars and blazing guns. The action-adventure first-person shooter will please both fans of the genre and Far Cry enthusiasts. Despite the controversy that surrounded its release due to real world political issues, Far Cry delivers on all fronts without going overboard.
UFC 3
Sports games continue to improve, but unlike games based in fiction, it can be difficult to get real-life people to look great in video game form. UFC 3 accomplishes this and more. The presentation of the game is stunning and the arenas look spot on. Pre-match graphics are a real standout as players feel like they are watching a real UFC event. The only difference is, they are controlling a fighter. From the commentary to the fighters’ entrances, UFC 3 scores a knockout.
Dead Cells
Released in August, Dead Cells has garnered nothing but positive reviews. Dead Cells is a Metroidvania game that sees players take control of a dead corpse in a dungeon. Sounds cool, right? Dead Cells is sleek and the graphics are intense with rich colours. The gameplay is equally as good, which is why so many reviewers and players love it. Thanks to Dead Cells early access release, the game has sold around a million copies already.
