Visitors will be able to enjoy a new integrated virtual reality experience right in the heart of the exhibition, the first of its kind at Tate. the virtual reality room will take visitors deep into the artist’s world, enriching their understanding of his life and art. The VIVE headset, with its stunning graphics and intuitive controllers, promises to provide an unparalleled immersive layer of interpretation as visitors are transported to early twentieth century Paris. The experience is a recreation of Modigliani’s final studio, which uses the actual studio space as a template, vividly enhancing our understanding of one of the early twentieth century’s greatest artists.
The VIVE will allow visitors to gain a unique perspective of Modigliani’s life and inspirations, in a way that has never been done before. Through the Vive, visitors can interact with the personalities, objects and settings that influenced his art, seeing the world through Modigliani’s eyes for the first time.
Frances Morris, Director, Tate Modern said: ‘We are thrilled to be working with VIVE to bring a new and exciting digital experience to our visitors. We are always looking to push creative boundaries and we think this will be a fantastic opportunity to give the public a different and in-depth understanding of this much-loved artist through new technology.’
Modigliani will be open to the public at Tate Modern from 23 November 2017 to 2 April 2018.
Tickets for the Modigliani virtual reality experience are limited and will be issued every half hour on a first come, first served basis, at the entrance to the exhibition. Tickets will become available on the hour and half past the hour.
