Added features include hunting, save options, performance improvements and new ways to unlock features in the game
Yore VR, a recent addition to Steam VR Early Access, released a major update today which includes the first ever VR deer hunting simulation. Players are now able to chase after and kill deer, making Yore VR one of the only titles with a medieval VR bow hunting sim available for the HTC Vive.
Hunting System- All of the weapons in Yore (bow and crossbows) can be used to hunt. While holding the weapons, the player can use Teleport or D-pad movement to hunt deer. Different weapons will deal different damage. To kill the deer requires multiple shots. There are also future plans to integrate specific hitboxes to deal bonus damage or affect the deer’s movement depending on where it’s shot.
Harvesting Meat– The update includes a way to harvest meat from slain deer with an axe. Future updates will include implementing detailed skinning and organ harvesting system, but for now, the basic framework for harvesting is in place.
Reputation System- If a player chooses not to hunt, they will notice that the deer are friendly and will approach players freely. However, the more deer the player kills, the more fearful the deer will be. It is a compromise for players that want to live peacefully with animals. Prolific hunters will find deer increasingly weary or timid, which leads to a more challenging hunt.
Building Yore town from the ground up- Once a player lands in the open world, they will notice that the starter house, pub and all other structures are gone. This gives the players a chance to build the village from scratch.
