With an estimated revenue of over 1 billion, the rapidly growing phenomenon surrounding esports continues to gather steam offering an innovative wave of branding opportunities, engaging content, and activations for organizations. But which are the highest earning teams, and which has the most significant reach on social media?
By analyzing the total revenue from all the tournaments each team has participated in, a new report from Betway reveals the most successful esports teams. Also, through analyzing social media data, the teams were ranked based on the total number of followers on Twitter, Instagram, and Twitch.
Additionally, using positive sentiment data drawn from social listening tool Linkfluence, all major esports organizations were analyzed, to highlight the ones with the highest social media sentiment scores.
Team Liquid is the Esports Team with the Highest Revenue
With over 60 championship-caliber athletes in 14 of the world’s top games, Team Liquid is synonymous with success. With total revenue of nearly $40 million from 2,246 tournaments, Team Liquid ranks first on the list of the most successful esports teams. Despite the team’s success, only 2% of the online conversations mentioning the organization are positive.
Following closely behind in second place is the OG, with revenue of $36.08 million from 134 tournaments which works out at $269,247 per competition! Completing the top five are Evil Geniuses, Team Spirit and Natus Vincere.

FaZe Clan is the Most Followed Team Online
With almost 18 million followers across Twitter, Twitch and Instagram FaZe Clan is the most popular team on social media. Given the success of the team with fans, it comes as no surprise that Google searches for ‘how to join faze clan 2022’1 have increased by 86% in the past few months!
Next up are Team SoloMid and OpTic Gaming with 5,2 million and 4 million total online followers respectively. What’s interesting is that Team SoloMid’s biggest following stems from the ‘gram whereas OpTic Gaming fans are more active on Twitter.
Further down the list, we have iconic esports organizations like G2 Esports, NRG Esports, Fnatic, and 100 Thieves. Rounding out the top 10 with over a million fans following them on social media is FURIA Esports and Ninjas in Pyjamas.
Cloud9 is the Most Loved Esports Team
Despite having the 9th biggest total social media following, Cloud9 is the most loved esports organization with just short of one in three online conversations about the team considered positive in nature.
Fnatic sits comfortably in second place with a 30.20% positive online sentiment score, followed closely behind by the newly founded team, Beastcoast (27.10%).
