Intellivision Entertainment has announced that the launch of the “Intellivision Amico” console is now planned for autumn 2021, with the aim of bringing a great gaming experience to the family’s living room right on time for this year’s Christmas business. In order to guarantee a successful market launch of the unique family entertainment system, this decision was inevitable due to the global pandemic and additional logistical reasons.
“The team at Intellivision is so passionate and working extra hard to make something very special, we can’t wait for people to be able to play Amico”, stated Tommy Tallarico, CEO, and President of Intellivision Entertainment. In addition to the six pack-in games, around 30 exclusive Amico games in digital and physical format as well as an extensive range of accessories will be available at the start. All games will have on-screen text in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, and Dutch.
“We had no other choice after Covid-19 prevented the Europe-wide PR tour planned for February from being carried out and we also had to cancel the mall tour planned for March due to the lock-down extension and travel bans. That is why we have coordinated with partners and our exclusive distributor Koch Media and see a launch in the second half of the year as realistic explains Hans Ippisch, President Europe and Managing Director of the European subsidiary.
In addition to the global localization of all Amico games, the Nuremberg-based Intellivision Entertainment Europe GmbH is also responsible for the development of currently 20 exclusive Amico titles across Europe (including Germany, Italy, and Denmark). Among them are Intellivision Skiing, Intellivision Farkle, Shark! Shark! and Cornhole four of the six pre-installed games. The Europe-wide age rating for the six “Pack-In” games has already been granted. The “Amico Pack-in Bundle” has a PEGI rating of 7 and a USK rating of 6.
