A free, one-day event in the heart of London will take place in Trafalgar Square on Saturday 13 April to celebrate the climax of next month’s London Games Festival.
The Trafalgar Square Games Festival is a takeover of the iconic landmark, bringing video games to life in an allowing anyone to come and play against pro gamers, experience the fun outdoor games or get a bit closer to the teams behind world-famous games.
The event is part of the 12-day London Games Festival, which runs 2 April to 14 with 40 events at 30 different venues across the city.
London Games Festival is backed by the Mayor of London and is delivered by Games London, an initiative from Film London, the capital’s screen industries agency, and video games trade body Ukie (The Association for UK Interactive Entertainment).
This year the Trafalgar Square Games Festival is divided into a number of major areas and activities including:
Play With A Pro presented by Events DC
The Play With A Pro competition returns for 2019 after its debut last April, featuring EA SPORTS’ FIFA 19. Members of the public can play in laddered matches with friends or strangers, and the best walk-up players will be matched against esports pros.

Iconic Japanese games developer Kojima Productions lands in Trafalgar Square with a pop-up experience featuring photo opps and exclusive merchandise celebrating one of the world’s most respected games companies – including items exclusive to London Games Festival.
LEGO Overwatch D.Va (supported by LEGO and Activision Blizzard)
Trafalgar Square is no stranger to iconic monuments and artistic creations – and for one day only it is joined by a new statue measuring over 3 meters high, weighing 1200kg… and made of 145,276 LEGO bricks. The giant D.Va mech is modeled on the character from Blizzard Entertainment’s world-famous game Overwatch and will turn heads in the Square.
Actual Reality Arcade
Plus the Actual Reality Arcade returns to Trafalgar Square after entertaining audiences at the 2018 Trafalgar Square Games Festival. The arcade features live ‘offline’ spoof versions of iconic retro and arcade games, turning old school entertainment into energetic outdoor fun.
The headline partner for the Trafalgar Square Games Festival is Events DC, which helped launched the London Games Festival activity in 2018 with a Rocket League Play With A Pro challenge for members of the public, played by thousands of people.
More partners and content will be announced in due course.
