Headsets are a key accessory for any gamer as they allow you to get fully immersed in the game and be able to communicate with your friends and teammates. I have had a wide variety of them over the years and am always up to trying new ones to see if they can become my new headset and that’s what I was looking for when I picked up the RIG 300 PRO HX. This headset stood out to me due to its compatibility with pretty much everything that is on the market at the moment. It looked comfy in photos and it was super affordable which in this current climate could be a huge selling point. It comes in two colours Black and White and I decided to go for the Black one. This review will cover my time with the RIG 300 PRO HX and whether it’s a must for gamers everywhere.
First Impressions
The RIG 300 PRO HX is a nice headset, when I first took it out of the packaging it looked well-made and comfortable. After further time with the headset, I did feel like it was a bit on the flimsy side, I’m used to having beefier headsets with the PS5 and the Alienware one. The ear pieces can also be popped out the frame to adjust the sizing, it felt weird that I was able to remove the ear pieces completely from the headset as normally they are on adjusters but it was simple to do and just popped in and out. It was weird to go back to a headset that had cables as the last few I have bought have been wireless but all you have to do is plug the headset into the device you are using and you’re good to go. There is an on/off switch and a volume adjuster midway through the cable that makes it easier to access while gaming if needed. I did like the idea of the Flip-up microphone as it makes the headset easier to store away and also mutes the mic while gaming when flipped up. One of the things that I did miss though was the lack of RGB lighting but I suppose not everything needs this feature it’s just something I have become accustomed to.
Can you hear me now?
After a few days with the product, I can say that it is super comfy when playing long sessions. With the recent release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 I have been playing a lot with friends and they have said that the microphone quality is good, so I decided to check this out myself by recording a video on my computer using capture software and playing it back. It is good for the price value as the quality wasn’t half bad. My other half had a go with the headset too and found it really comfortable but when she was wearing the headset, I could hear all the audio which I can see being a pain if she was trying to go to bed and I was up playing games using this headset. Normally, when I’m using my other headsets once the headset is on you can’t hear the audio but with the RIG 300 Pro, you could still hear everything. The headset is super lightweight which is nice because after a few minutes, you forget that it’s even there and the flip-up microphone is good as it isn’t super long and doesn’t get in the way. The comfortable foam headband and earpads help keep you immersed in the gameplay and really allow you to be sucked into the game, it’s super helpful at hearing footsteps on the latest COD game and also when playing Fortnite.

Closing Statement
The RIG 300 PRO HX is a good starter headset/nice midrange one that will get the job done. This super affordable headset at £26 is good for people that might need a replacement headset or might want one for their sons or daughters. The comfortable design helps when playing long gaming sessions and the audio quality is decent enough to get you immersed in the game. The only downfalls I have is the stability as it does feel flimsy and the fact that the earpieces can pop out quite easily make me wonder if down the line they might just pop out due to losing grip. Not to mention the fact that you can hear the audio from the headset if you are by the person who is playing the games but it’s not a big enough problem to make it unusable. The flip-up microphone is a nice touch and I haven’t used a headset before that had this feature on it, the lack of RGB lighting is missed with me personally but when it comes down to it the RIGH 300 PRO HX does what it says on the box and you can’t really ask for more. It gives you crisp sound, good microphone quality, and is comfortable which is what anyone can ask for in a headset, for these reasons I’m more than happy to give it a score of 7 out of 10.
