NCSOFT, the renowned Korean developer and publisher behind acclaimed global MMORPGs, has officially unveiled its ambitious new project — Horizon Steel Frontiers. Announced during G-Star 2025, Korea’s premier gaming conference, the title marks a groundbreaking collaboration between NCSOFT and Guerrilla (creators of Horizon and Killzone) under Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). Horizon Steel Frontiers is set in the perilous lands of the machine hunters — the Deadlands — a region brimming with mystery, mechanical creatures, and ancient ruins. The game evolves the franchise’s signature hunting-action gameplay into a massive, living world. Players can expect deeply customizable combat systems, meaningful progression, and extensive freedom to explore, craft, and survive. The project’s goal is to deliver a fully realized Horizon MMORPG that feels both true to its roots and ambitious enough to redefine the genre.
The newly launched official website for Horizon Steel Frontiers features the debut trailer and a detailed developer commentary. The trailer teases awe-inspiring landscapes, colossal mechanical beasts, and large-scale cooperative battles that will define the experience. In the accompanying video, Jan-Bart Van Beek, Studio Director and Art Director at Guerrilla, expressed excitement about bringing the Horizon universe to a wider audience through this partnership with NCSOFT.
Meanwhile, Taekjin Kim (CEO & Chief Creative Officer, NCSOFT) and Sunggu Lee (Executive Producer) shared insights into the creative vision and technical collaboration driving this project, offering a glimpse into how the two studios are blending narrative depth, online innovation, and next-gen visuals.
Horizon Steel Frontiers will be available cross-platform on PC and mobile via PURPLE, NCSOFT’s proprietary platform, ensuring seamless access and cross-play for players worldwide. Following the high-profile announcement of Horizon Steel Frontiers, NCSOFT showcased an impressive portfolio of five major titles at G-Star 2025. Each game was introduced by its executive producer, highlighting NCSOFT’s dedication to diverse, global game experiences. The lineup includes:
- AION 2 – Launching November 19 in Korea and Taiwan, this sequel refines and expands on the original’s legacy, with a global release planned for 2026.
- CINDER CITY – An open-world tactical shooter from BigFire Games, offering an AAA-quality narrative set within a massive, dynamic world.
- Horizon Steel Frontiers – A next-generation MMORPG developed in partnership with Guerrilla and based on the acclaimed Horizon franchise.
- LIMIT ZERO BREAKERS – An anime-inspired action RPG from VIC Game Studio blending high-speed combat with vibrant storytelling.
- TIME TAKERS – A time-survival shooter developed by Mistil Games, focused on dynamic gameplay and relentless time-based mechanics.
In collaboration with NVIDIA, every demo station at the NCSOFT booth featured the new GeForce RTX 5080 GPUs, showcasing ultra-smooth performance and next-level graphical fidelity. Visitors were treated to hands-on demos of AION 2 and CINDER CITY, both optimised through NCSOFT’s continued technical partnership with NVIDIA to deliver world-class visuals and gameplay.
