The summer might be coming to an end, but Epic Games Store is giving PC gamers one more reason to spend some time indoors, with its End of Summer Sale now underway.
Running until September 17 at 11 AM ET, the latest Epic sale offers discounts of up to 75% across a selection of PC games. There are plenty of familiar names involved, but a few of the featured deals are particularly worth a look if you’ve been waiting for the right excuse to expand your library.
007 First Light Gets Its First Discount
One of the more interesting games included in the sale is 007 First Light, which is receiving its first discount.
The game takes players back to the beginning of James Bond’s career, following a younger and far less experienced 007 as he learns the trade and works towards earning his iconic status within MI6.
Rather than playing the already-established Bond we’re familiar with from the films, 007 First Light gives players the chance to see the character develop into the legendary spy. Expect stealth, combat, gadgets and plenty of international espionage as Bond tackles a dangerous conspiracy targeting his team.
There’s also a little extra incentive for players who enjoy Epic’s wider ecosystem. Purchasing 007 First Light through the Epic Games Store includes the 007 Aston Martin DB5 (Obsidian Gold) Wheels for Rocket League and Fortnite.
Dave the Diver Is Still One of Gaming’s Best Surprises
If you’ve somehow managed to avoid Dave the Diver until now, the End of Summer Sale could be a good opportunity to fix that.
What initially sounds like a fairly straightforward diving game quickly turns into something considerably more addictive. During the day, Dave heads into the Blue Hole to catch fish, discover secrets and upgrade his equipment. Once evening arrives, he’s swapping his diving gear for an apron and running a sushi restaurant.
That combination of exploration, resource management, restaurant management and progression gives Dave the Diver a wonderfully difficult-to-put-down gameplay loop. It’s charming, surprisingly deep and the sort of game that can quietly consume far more of your time than you originally intended.
Buying the game also comes with some Dave the Diver-themed Fortnite goodies, including the Dave the Diver Outfit and Dave’s Oxygen Tank Back Bling.
Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced Is Still Worth Considering
Then there’s Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced.
Yes, GTA V has been around for what feels like half a lifetime at this point, but there’s a reason Rockstar’s open-world crime game continues to appear in sale after sale. Thirteen years after its original release, Los Santos remains one of gaming’s most recognisable and entertaining playgrounds.
The single-player campaign still delivers three very different protagonists, a huge open world and a ridiculous collection of missions, heists and set pieces. Meanwhile, GTA Online has grown into something considerably larger than anyone probably expected when the original game launched.
The Enhanced edition also gives PC players the more modern version of the game, making this a particularly tempting purchase for anyone who somehow missed out on GTA V or hasn’t experienced the newer version.
Epic Rewards Make the Sale a Little More Interesting
The End of Summer Sale isn’t simply about finding games at reduced prices either. Players can earn Epic Rewards when purchasing or gifting selected games, including 007 First Light, Dave the Diver and Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced.
For anyone already planning to pick up one of these games, those additional rewards make the discounts a little more appealing, particularly if you regularly spend money elsewhere on the Epic Games Store.
Is the Epic Games Store End of Summer Sale Worth Checking Out?
Absolutely. While this isn’t necessarily the sort of sale where every game suddenly becomes an essential purchase, there are some genuinely worthwhile games among the featured deals.
007 First Light is arguably the most interesting proposition simply because it’s a new Bond adventure receiving its first discount. Dave the Diver is an easy recommendation for anyone looking for something different, while Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced remains one of those games that is difficult to argue against when the price is right.
The Epic Games Store End of Summer Sale is available now and runs until September 17 at 11 AM ET.
So, if your wallet survived the summer without taking too much damage, Epic is apparently giving it one final opportunity to reconsider its life choices.
