Halloween The Game, the asymmetrical stealth horror game based on John Carpenter’s iconic horror franchise, is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Developed and published by IllFonic and co-published with Gun Interactive, alongside Compass International Pictures and Further Front, the game launches in both Digital Standard and Deluxe Editions.
Set during Halloween night in 1978, the game takes players back to Haddonfield as Michael Myers begins his infamous night of terror.
Step Into Michael Myers’ First Night
Halloween The Game features a single-player story campaign consisting of six chapters narrated by Dr. Sam Loomis.
The campaign explores Michael Myers’ origins and the events surrounding his transformation into the masked killer familiar to horror fans, including the story behind his iconic blue jumpsuit, mask and kitchen knife.
Players will also be able to recreate the infamous babysitter encounter through a sandbox-style gameplay experience that supports different approaches. Patient and methodical players can stalk their targets, while those looking for a more brutal experience can take a more direct approach.
Michael Myers vs Haddonfield
The game’s multiplayer component features 1v4 matches, putting one player in control of Michael Myers against four players taking on the roles of Haddonfield residents.
Playing as Michael Myers, players can stalk their victims using a combination of stealth and special abilities. Shadows and the environment can be used to remain hidden while hunting unsuspecting residents.
The other four players have a very different objective: survive.
As civilians, players must work together to alert others to the threat, find ways to escape and ultimately call the police. They can also arm themselves with everyday household objects and attempt to overpower Michael long enough for everyone to get away.
Built With Unreal Engine 5
Halloween The Game is powered by Unreal Engine 5, with IllFonic using the technology to create a horror sandbox featuring dynamic map elements, interactive gameplay systems and NPC interactions.
The game is designed to recreate the atmosphere of Haddonfield while providing players with unpredictable encounters and multiple ways to approach each situation.
Malek Akkad, President of Compass International Pictures, said the team was excited to see the game reach longtime fans of the Michael Myers franchise while also introducing a new generation of players to Haddonfield.
“Seeing Halloween: The Game finally in the community’s hands is the payoff of years of work honoring Moustapha Akkad and John Carpenter’s legacies,” said Jared Gerritzen, Chief Creative Officer at IllFonic.
Gerritzen also confirmed that a physical edition of the game is planned to arrive in time for Halloween.
