Wolcen Studio has announced the next Closed Alpha playtest for its dark fantasy extraction RPG Gods, Death & Reapers, while also confirming that the game’s Early Access launch has been pushed back to February 2027.
Closed Alpha 6 will give selected players another opportunity to explore the game’s high-risk, loot-focused take on extraction-based gameplay. The upcoming test also introduces several features requested by the community, including a new Party System, Soulbound Items, a new summoner weapon and the Asgard map.
Closed Alpha 6 Starts September 24
The sixth Closed Alpha playtest will run from September 24 to September 28, 2026, with players across North America, Europe, South America, East Asia and Southeast Asia able to participate.
The test is scheduled to begin at 1AM PDT / 4AM EDT / 5AM BRT / 10AM CEST / 3PM ICT on September 24 and will run until the same times on September 28.
Players interested in taking part can register for the playtest through the official Wolcen Studio playtest website or via Steam.
New Features Coming to Closed Alpha 6
Closed Alpha 6 introduces several additions designed around feedback from players who have taken part in previous tests.
- Party System – Players will be able to team up with others during their adventures.
- Double Axes – A new summoner weapon offering another way to approach combat.
- Soulbound Items – A new item type being introduced with the latest test.
- Asgard – A brand-new map for players to explore and fight through.
The latest test continues Wolcen Studio’s approach of developing the game alongside its community, with player feedback helping shape the features and systems being added throughout the alpha process.

Early Access Delayed Until February 2027
Alongside details of the new playtest, Wolcen Studio has confirmed that Gods, Death & Reapers will no longer enter Early Access in its previously planned timeframe.
The Early Access launch has now been moved to February 2027, giving the development team additional time for testing, development and refinement ahead of release.
“To achieve the high quality level that we’re aiming for with Gods, Death & Reapers, we have made the decision to move the Early Access launch to make room for additional playtesting and development time,” said Bogdan Oprescu, President of Wolcen Studio.
According to the studio, the additional development time will allow the team to continue working with player feedback from the Closed Alpha tests and further fine-tune the game before it enters Early Access.
Previous Test Participants Keep Access
Players who have already participated in earlier Gods, Death & Reapers playtests will retain access to future regular Closed Alpha tests, meaning returning testers will be able to continue following the game’s development without having to start the process again.
Gods, Death & Reapers is planned for release on Windows PC via Steam Early Access in February 2027. Players can also wishlist the game on Steam ahead of its Early Access launch.
With Closed Alpha 6 adding several community-requested features and the Early Access release now pushed into 2027, Wolcen Studio is giving itself additional time to shape Gods, Death & Reapers before opening the game to a wider audience.
