Independent studios Rever Games and Radical Theory have officially announced that Clockfall will launch into Steam Early Access on May 28, 2026.
Alongside the announcement, the developers have also revealed a brand-new Gameplay Overview Trailer showcasing the game’s unique blend of dungeon crawling, village defense mechanics, and time-driven progression systems where every second matters.
Set inside an endless nightmare trapped within a relentless time loop, Clockfall challenges players to descend through deadly dungeons, defeat monstrous enemies, and survive brutal boss encounters in an attempt to finally break free.
However, survival is not simply about combat. In Clockfall, time itself acts as both a resource and a constant threat, creating a gameplay loop built around difficult decisions and risk management.

Time Is the Ultimate Currency
The core mechanic of Clockfall revolves around balancing power and survival. Players must carefully decide how to spend their limited time while navigating increasingly dangerous dungeons.
Resources earned during runs can be invested into immediate combat advantages such as upgrading stats, unlocking new weapons, or learning devastating spells. Alternatively, players can sacrifice progression in order to literally purchase more time, extending their chances of reaching deeper into the dungeon before the clock expires.
This constant pressure creates a tense roguelite experience where every movement, upgrade decision, and combat encounter matters.
The developers describe the game as an experience built around “heart-wrenching choices,” forcing players to decide between becoming stronger now or surviving long enough to progress further into the nightmare.
A Unique Blend of Dungeon Crawling and Village Defense
What truly separates Clockfall from more traditional roguelites is its dual-rhythm gameplay structure.
The frantic dungeon-crawling action directly feeds into village defense systems back at the player’s settlement. Materials, resources, and upgrades collected during dungeon runs can be used to strengthen both the player character and the village itself before enemy invasions begin.
As players progress through the loop, enemy waves become increasingly aggressive and difficult to survive. Successfully defending the settlement rewards players with stronger permanent upgrades, allowing them to slowly master the cycle and push further with each new run.
This combination of action RPG combat, resource management, and strategic defense mechanics gives Clockfall a gameplay identity that feels both familiar and fresh within the roguelite genre.
Coming to Consoles in 2027
While the game launches first through Steam Early Access later this month, Rever Games and Radical Theory have also confirmed plans to bring Clockfall to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sometime in 2027.
With its dark atmosphere, unique time-based mechanics, and evolving gameplay loop, Clockfall is shaping up to be one of the more interesting indie roguelites heading into Early Access this year.
