Indie developer Spiderware has announced that its popular web-based MMORPG Soulbound will soon be launching on Steam following impressive success across browser and Discord platforms.
Before even reaching Valve’s storefront, Soulbound has already attracted more than 1,000,000 players, building a strong community around its blend of pixel-art visuals, roguelite combat, dungeon progression, and cooperative multiplayer gameplay.
Set inside a dangerous digital reality, Soulbound throws players into a mysterious virtual world where combat, exploration, and progression are deeply connected. Players can create fully customizable characters and shape their preferred playstyle using over a dozen abilities alongside upgradeable skill trees.
Whether you prefer tanking enemy attacks, supporting allies as a healer, or focusing entirely on high damage output, the game offers flexibility for different MMO playstyles. The combat itself leans heavily into fast-paced arena battles inspired by bullet heaven roguelites, with swarms of enemies and escalating boss encounters constantly pushing players to adapt.

Fight Back Against The Anima
The story of Soulbound begins with players awakening inside a strange digital reality where a hostile force known as The Anima threatens everything around them. After being rescued by a robotic companion, players begin a journey to grow stronger, craft new equipment, and eventually challenge the mysterious entities behind the corruption spreading throughout the world.
Players operate from a personal apartment-style home base where salvaged materials can be upgraded into new weapons, armor, and useful gear. From there, adventurers can head into dangerous dungeons packed with enemy hordes, procedurally escalating encounters, and valuable loot needed for progression.
The mixture of MMO systems and roguelite dungeon design appears to be one of the game’s standout features, giving players repeatable content while still offering long-term progression and crafting goals.
Co-Op Dungeon Crawling and Shared World Gameplay
While Soulbound can be played solo, players can also join forces with up to two other players in cooperative dungeon runs. Teaming up allows groups to tackle tougher encounters and earn better rewards hidden deeper within the game’s increasingly dangerous dungeons.
The game also features a shared online world server filled with NPCs, explorable locations, and ongoing conflicts tied to The Anima. Players will be able to meet other adventurers, establish guilds, interact with towns and cities, and help unite the world against the growing threat.
Another notable feature is the inclusion of player-owned land and housing, adding additional progression systems beyond combat and dungeon crawling.
