Let’s be honest, we have all been waiting for this DLC to drop and it goes without saying that it feels like it’s been overdue, seeing as the film came out last year. However, I’m just glad that it is finally here. Jurassic World Evolution 3 is my all-time favourite dinosaur park builder, and I love how it expands on what we already have in new ways, whether that be new DLC dinosaurs or free updates that add quality-of-life elements or allow the T-Rex to go for a swim.
After spending a considerable amount of time with the Jurassic World Evolution 3 Rebirth, I can confidently say that this is one of the most enjoyable and memorable pieces of DLC Frontier has produced for the series. While previous expansions have often focused on adding new species or revisiting familiar film locations, Jurassic World Evolution 3 Rebirth feels like a more complete package, offering a new campaign experience, some genuinely exciting dinosaurs, and enough additional content to keep both management-focused players and creative sandbox builders engaged.
I did like the wetlands pack, but I have been waiting for the day when I got to see the Mutadon and Distortus-rex in my parks.
Jurassic World Evolution 3 Rebirth Campaign
One thing I didn’t think I’d like a much as I did was Jurassic World Evolution 3 Rebirth’s campaign. Rather than feeling like a collection of disconnected scenarios, the story provides a sense of purpose and progression throughout. The missions are varied and encourage players to engage with multiple aspects of park management, research, containment, and dinosaur welfare.
There is a satisfying balance between challenge and accessibility, ensuring that experienced players remain engaged without making the content overly difficult for newer players. It was a nice little twist to have it where you are looking after staff members and trying to keep them happy and engaged rather than the typical route of pleasing guests.
The Atmosphere of the Rebirth Expansion
The atmosphere of the campaign deserves praise. Frontier has done an excellent job of capturing the mystery and tension associated with the Jurassic franchise. Exploring abandoned facilities, recovering research, and managing the new dinosaurs that we saw in Jurassic World Evolution 3 Rebirth. It adds a sense of excitement that keeps you invested from beginning to end. There were several moments where I found myself completely giddy and overwhelmed with excitement.
Mainly when I got to see the Distortus-rex, new Spinosaurus skins and the Mutadon. No matter what you thought of the Rebirth film I would say that Frontier has done a brilliant job at bringing them to the Evolution franchise and have given them a new form of life that we didn’t get to apricate in the film along.
Distortus Rex
The stars of the DLC for me are the new dinosaurs and Rebirth introduces the controversial and probably the most talked about dinosaurs in the franchise (for better or worse). It goes without saying that the headline attraction is undoubtedly the Distortus Rex.
I loved it in the rebirth film and from the moment it is introduced in the campaign I feel even more in love with it. Let’s be honest, in the movie we didn’t get to truly apricated the D-Rex due to a lot of the scenes it was in were fairly dark but thanks to Frontier we get to see its stunning design and the way they have captured its movement and behaviour with its animations are impressive, and it genuinely makes the D-Rex feel unique from many of the other large carnivores already in the game.
Watching it moves around an enclosure, interact with its environment, or inevitably test the strength of your fencing creates the kind of memorable moments that make these games so enjoyable and I love the fact that we get to see more of these dinosaurs outside of the film and spend more time admiring them.
Mutadon
Another one of my favourite dinosaurs from the Jurassic Park/World franchise is the Velociraptor. They have come in all shapes and sizes, but Jurassic World Evolution 3 Rebirth took it a step further with the Mutadon. This is another standout addition for me. While most Jurassic fans are divided when to comes to Hybrid dinosaurs, I welcome all forms of dinosaurs. This is why this DLC pack feels like must for me because it holds new and exciting dinosaurs that we only got to see for a short period of time on the big screen.
The Mutadon behaves differently enough from existing species to create new management challenges, and its appearance strikes a good balance between being unusual and still feeling believable within the game’s world, kind of like how the Scorpius Rex came across. It quickly became one of the species I looked forward to observing most within the campaign and sandbox.
Titanosaurus
Herbivore lovers will welcome the Titanosaurus as it is perhaps the most visually impressive herbivore to be added to the game. Frontier has done a fantastic job of conveying the immense scale of this giant, even more so when you see it come out of the hatchery. It towers above vehicles, buildings, and even other large dinosaurs which is genuinely awe-inspiring. The animations are smooth even if the tail does clip through a lot of the environment.
The sound design is excellent, and its presence alone can transform the feel of an entire park. It’s exactly the kind of species that reminds me why the Jurassic franchise continues to capture people’s imagination and makes dinosaurs lovers go giddy like a child on Christmas morning.
Aquilops
I normally don’t have a big love for the smaller dinosaurs in Jurassic World Evolution 3, this is due to them generally being hard to locate once they have been let into an enclosure. Though the Aquilops was a surprisingly welcomed addition to the little critters. While it lacks the dramatic impact that the larger additions bring to the table, it does have a great deal of personality for such a small dinosaur.
The smaller dinosaurs normally are overlooked when compared to giant carnivores and sauropods, but Aquilops is charming, well-animated, and adds welcome variety to exhibits. It serves as a reminder that not every new species needs to be enormous to be valuable and is a welcomed addition to any herbivore enclosure.
Visuals, Skins and New Cosmetic Content
Visually the quality of the expansion continues to impress. Frontier’s artists produce some of the best dinosaur models in gaming, and Jurassic World Evolution 3 Rebirth maintains that standard throughout. The new skins and cosmetic options are beautifully detailed, helping each species feel unique and authentic. The environments also benefit from a range of new decorative items that allow players to create parks inspired by the themes and aesthetic of Jurassic World Evolution 3 Rebirth. It’s something that I always love diving into when we get new updates and DLC from Frontier.
Sandbox Content
Sandbox players can rejoice because this DLC doesn’t just offer campaign content it comes with new decorative assets that provide additional creative freedom and Rebirth-themed park content. Whether you’re constructing a highly secure research facility or a guest-focused tourist attraction, there are enough new pieces here to inspire fresh ideas and make awesome new blueprints.
Performance
With my new PC, Performance throughout my playtime was generally excellent. Even when I had large parks containing multiple species the game ran smoothly and remained stable. I encountered very few technical issues, mainly the tails of the Titanosaurus. The Pathfinding, animations, and park operations all functioned as expected, which is particularly important in a management game. Though Frontier being the gods of management games, deserves credit for delivering an expansion that feels polished and well-integrated with the existing systems.
Is Jurassic World Evolution 3 Rebirth Worth the Price?
There has been criticism from some players where they have questioned whether the amount of content in this new DLC pack warrants the asking price and I can see where they are coming from. While the campaign is enjoyable and the new species are high quality, you could argue that additional attractions, management systems, or gameplay mechanics could have been elevated more to give the expansion that extra wow-factor but the dinosaurs themselves are excellent and are one of the main reasons I will buy all the DLC packs for Jurassic World Evolution.
It would have been nice though to have had more substantial changes to the core gameplay experience as even though the campaign wasn’t necessarily building a park for guests it didn’t change the formula that much.
Another minor issue is that some of the campaign objectives can feel familiar to long-time players of the series. While the narrative context helps keep them engaging, certain management tasks will be immediately recognisable to anyone who has spent hundreds of hours with previous Jurassic World Evolution games. This isn’t enough to significantly impact enjoyment, but it does prevent the campaign from feeling completely fresh.
Final Thoughts on the Rebirth Expansion
Despite these little criticisms, the expansion succeeds in delivering exactly what I have been waiting for since the Jurassic World Rebirth film came out, an engaging Jurassic experience that feels meaningful rather than superficial. The campaign offers several hours of enjoyable gameplay, the new species are among the best Frontier has created, and the additional cosmetic content provides lasting value for sandbox enthusiasts like me.
What impressed me most was how cohesive the entire package feels. Nothing appears to have been included simply to increase the content count. The creatures, environments, story, and gameplay all support the central theme of Jurassic World Evolution 3 Rebirth, creating an expansion that feels carefully designed rather than assembled from disconnected ideas. However, it does feel like it has been a long time since the film came out, so the hype for Rebirth might not hold as much value as it could have if it had been released closer to the film’s release.
Jurassic World Evolution 3 Rebirth Expansion Review Score
Overall, Jurassic World Evolution 3 Rebirth expansion is a polished, entertaining, and thoughtfully crafted DLC pack that successfully builds upon the strengths of the base game. At a time when downloadable content can sometimes feel overpriced or lacking in ambition, Rebirth stands out as a genuinely worthwhile addition to Jurassic World Evolution 3. It expands the game in meaningful ways, introduces memorable new species, and captures the wonder, danger, and excitement that have always defined the Jurassic franchise.
For existing players, this is an easy recommendation. If you’ve enjoyed what Jurassic World Evolution 3 has to offer so far, Rebirth provides more of what works while introducing enough new content to justify another return to your parks. It may not revolutionise the game, but it absolutely enhances it.
While there is still room for Frontier to push the series further in future content, this DLC demonstrates that they continue to understand what makes managing a park full of dinosaurs such a compelling experience and making the dinosaurs the stars of the show, and for that reason, I’m giving this DLC pack a final Score of 9/10.
