It is officially summer time and you know what that means? It is time for another year of E3. This is the expo that everyone anticipates because of the reveals and gameplay footage that we all want so badly. Last year Nintendo brought Mario Odyssey footage, Metroid Prime 4 was revealed and Pokemon was hinted at. Sony brought Spider-Man, God of War and some Destiny 2 content. Ubisoft showed us Far Cry 5, Beyond Good and Evil 2, and Assassin’s Creed Origins. Microsoft released the name of the Xbox One X, Crackdown 3 and brought new information on the backwards compatibility plans. As you can see there was a ton to be excited about.
E3 2018 starts in less than a week and we are all taking guesses at what is going to be revealed. With a ton of developers and publishers already showing their hands well before the big show, which is unprecedented, we are left with few things to ponder about. This doesn’t stop us from wanting more though so let’s get to my personal five (5) E3 2018 bold predictions.
Rocksteady Studios New IP
It is time for Rocksteady to come out of hiding and bring us a brand new superhero game. I am not talking about more Batman. They need to bring something new. Who would this superhero be? Superman, of course! We are in desperate need of a brand new and exciting Superman game and who better than Rocksteady Studios to give us that. Make it open world and give us that DC Universe Online feel. This has got to happen.
Destiny 2 Massive Expansion at $20 for the Fans
Bungie owes us all a big apology for the mess they called Destiny 2. The game was so hyped and came out with a big thud towards the end. The end game was boring, the multiplayer lacked the spark that the original had and they had made so many minor changes to the formula that it actually hurt the franchise. Bungie needs to give the fans something to cheer for and in order to do this they need to bring out something huge at a discounted price. With the original Destiny, Bungie released The Taken King as an expansion away from the season pass. If Bungie can release another expansion just like that for Destiny 2 and fix all the problems that surround the game in the process, we may be looking at some new legs for Destiny.
Fortnite for Nintendo Switch
You know that this has to happen right? Fortnite is on almost every single platform aside from a Nintendo one. The Nintendo Switch would be perfect for Fortnite. You could have all your buddies in the same room in a squad without the mess of needing so many TVs and consoles. The ‘on-the-go’ presence that the Nintendo Switch has brought us makes this the perfect fit.
Borderlands 3 Needs to be Talked About
We know that Borderlands 3 is in development. We know that there is something going on over at Gearbox Software. Unfortunately, we haven’t heard much about this game at all. E3 2018 would be the perfect opportunity to finally say something about the game and show us some footage or at least a teaser of what we can expect. Being a huge fan of the other games, this is a must to get us all back in the mood so we can ‘catch-a-ride’ on the hype train once again.
Playstation 5 is Coming
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa… slow down. I know what you are thinking. Why would they announce Playstation 5 at E3 2018 when they already said 2020-2021 was when they would start truly talking about it? I think they were bluffing to be honest. Do I think they are going to make an announcement? They probably won’t do that. What I think they will do is give us a tease or at least say something about it so that we can speculate even more. Why wouldn’t they tease us a little? It would be the perfect time to get people riled up and excited even if it is 3-4 years down the line. This isn’t a kick in the face to PS4 owners. This just tells us that they are truly ready to take the next jump over Microsoft once again.
There are so many things to speculate and discuss when it comes to E3 2018 and I am super excited to see what each big name has in store for us. What do you expect to be there? Do you have anything you have wanted to see for a while? This is going to be fun.
