STARZPLAY has announced the acquisition and premiere date for the eagerly awaited DC Superhero drama “Doom Patrol.” All 15 episodes of the first season will launch exclusively in the UK on 2nd January, 2020.
Certified “Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 95%, “Doom Patrol” reimagines one of DC’s most beloved group of Super Heroes: Robotman aka Cliff Steele (Brendan Fraser – Crash, The Mummy, Gods and Monsters), Negative Man aka Larry Trainor (Matt Bomer – “White Collar” “American Horror Story” The Normal Heart), Elasti-Woman aka Rita Farr (April Bowlby – “Two and a Half Men” “How I Met Your Mother”) and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero – “Orange is the New Black”), led by modern-day mad scientist Niles Caulder aka The Chief (Timothy Dalton – The Living Daylights, License to Kill). Each member of the Doom Patrol suffered a horrible accident that gave them superhuman abilities, but also left them scarred and disfigured.
Following the mysterious disappearance of The Chief, these reluctant heroes find themselves in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg (Joivan Wade – The First Purge, “Doctor Who”), who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. “Doom Patrol” also stars Alan Tudyk (“Powerless” Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, “Suburgatory”) as Mr. Nobody.
From Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, “Doom Patrol” is executive produced by Jeremy Carver (“Supernatural,” “Frequency”), Geoff Johns (“Titans,” “Batwoman”), Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl”), Sarah Schechter (“Riverdale,” “God Friended Me”) and Chris Dingess (“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Agent Carter”). Currently in production on its second season, the series is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.
