The 2026 PUBG MOBILE Global Open (PMGO) Season 2 begins next week in Lahore, Pakistan, bringing the country’s first official global PUBG MOBILE Esports event to the city. Running from 20–25 October, the tournament will see 32 teams from around the world compete for a share of the $500,000 prize pool and valuable qualification points towards the 2026 PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (PMGC) in Istanbul, Turkey.
The tournament introduces several format changes designed to make qualification more competitive and the Grand Finals even less predictable, including Team Deathmatch tiebreakers and a new map-ban showmatch.
32 Teams Battle for a Place in the Grand Finals
PMGO Season 2 will feature matches across Rondo, Erangel and Miramar, with teams progressing through three stages before the tournament’s champion is decided.
The Group Stage takes place on 20 and 21 October, with the 32 teams split into two groups of 16. Each group will play six matches, with the top six teams from each group qualifying directly for the Grand Finals.
Teams finishing between seventh and 14th in their respective groups will move into the Survival Stage on 22 October. They will compete across six matches for the final four places in the Grand Finals, while the bottom four teams from each group will be eliminated.
Team Deathmatch Tiebreakers Introduced
One of the biggest changes for Season 2 affects how teams tied on points for a qualification position will be separated. Rather than relying on standard tournament standings alone, tied teams will compete in a best-of-three 4v4 Team Deathmatch on the Warehouse map.
Each round goes to the first team to reach 15 eliminations, or the team with the most eliminations when time expires. If the score remains tied when the timer ends, the team securing the final elimination wins the round.
The new tiebreaker system will be used in both the Group Stage and Survival Stage, adding another layer of pressure for teams fighting to keep their tournament hopes alive.
New Grand Finals Format Adds a Map-Ban Twist
The Grand Finals will bring the final 16 teams together on 24 and 25 October. The winning team can earn 150 PMGC points, which contribute towards qualification for the 2026 PUBG MOBILE Global Championship later this year.
Day One follows the established six-match format. Day Two, however, introduces a new twist ahead of Match 7, with a themed-map showmatch giving the winner the right to ban one of three possible maps for the newly introduced Match 13.
Match 13 will only take place if no team has already secured the title under the tournament’s SMASH rules. If an additional match is required, the team leading the standings after Match 12 will choose between the two remaining map options.
The changes are intended to test teams’ adaptability and decision-making while increasing the chance of the championship being decided by a Winner Winner Chicken Dinner (WWCD).
Road to PMGO Season 2
The Lahore event is the culmination of a global qualification process featuring in-game Open Qualifiers, the 2026 PUBG MOBILE National Championships (PMNC), 2026 PUBG MOBILE Club Open (PMCO) wildcard events and regional finals across Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas.
Season 2 follows the first PMGO in Jakarta, Indonesia, where Pakistan’s 4Thrives claimed victory. The inaugural tournament attracted more than one million peak viewers, underlining the global following for PUBG MOBILE Esports.
