NC America has officially confirmed that AION 2 is launching later this year on Steam and the PURPLE platform, bringing back the iconic MMORPG with a much larger world, expanded gameplay systems, and a renewed focus on global PC players.
This new entry builds on the original AION formula but scales it dramatically, offering a world that is 36 times larger, alongside expanded movement options including full aerial traversal and underwater exploration.

A Massive World Built Around Freedom
One of the biggest highlights of AION 2 is its emphasis on freedom of movement. Flight once again plays a central role, allowing players to travel seamlessly through the environment, engage in aerial combat, and explore the world from entirely new perspectives.
The game also introduces underwater exploration, further expanding how players interact with the environment. Combined with its significantly larger world size, AION 2 is aiming to deliver a more open and dynamic MMORPG experience.
Designed for Global PC Players
The global version of AION 2 has been built specifically with PC players in mind. NC America has confirmed that servers will be hosted locally across North America, South America, Europe, and Japan to improve performance and accessibility.
The game will also support a wide range of players with localisation in 10 languages, including English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
Players can already head over to the Steam page to wishlist the game ahead of its release.
Fast-Paced Combat and Aerial Battles
Combat in AION 2 blends traditional tab-targeting mechanics with a faster, more responsive system that focuses on precision, timing, and positioning. This approach aims to keep combat engaging while still feeling familiar to long-time MMORPG players.
Aerial combat is once again a major feature, with large-scale battles taking place in the skies, alongside ground-based encounters and environmental traversal.
Deep PvE and PvP Systems
AION 2 offers a wide range of PvE content, from solo experiences and four-player dungeons to larger eight-player raids that require coordination and mastery of mechanics.
On the PvP side, players can take part in multiple competitive modes, including 1v1 duels, 4v4 arenas, and large-scale Realm vs Realm battles. The faction-based Abyss system from the original game also returns, bringing back one of the series’ most recognisable features.
Character Customisation and Story
Players will have access to eight classes, with over 200 customisation options available to fine-tune their character’s appearance.
The story of AION 2 takes place 200 years after the original game, following the destruction of the Tower of Eternity. With the Elyos and Asmodian factions struggling to adapt, a newly empowered Balaur faction rises, setting the stage for a new conflict in a fractured world.
More Details Coming Soon
NC America has confirmed that more information on AION 2 will be revealed in May, with the development team planning to engage directly with the community and answer player questions.
With its expanded world, improved systems, and renewed focus on player feedback, AION 2 is shaping up to be a major return for the franchise as it heads toward its release later this year.
