NC America has announced that its upcoming MMORPG AION 2 has reached the #1 position on Steam’s Global Top Sellers chart ahead of its launch.
The ranking, recorded on Wednesday, September 30, puts AION 2 at the top of Steam’s global revenue chart, with the game also reaching #1 in eight countries: Brazil, Canada, France, Italy, Poland, Singapore, Spain, and Thailand.
The MMORPG also reached #2 in Germany, Austria, Finland, and Turkey, while placing #3 in Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, and the United States. The game reached #4 in the Czech Republic, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, as well as #6 in Denmark and Norway.
AION 2 Climbs Steam’s Global Top Sellers Chart
While AION 2 will be free-to-play when it officially launches, its position on Steam’s Top Sellers chart comes from players purchasing Early Access. According to NC America, the early sales reflect players choosing to pay for access ahead of launch rather than purchasing the full game, with the publisher positioning AION 2 as an MMORPG intended to be supported for years rather than weeks.
Early Access is also launching alongside War For Atreia, a creator event featuring 60 streamers from North America, Europe, and South America. Running from September 30 through October 14, the event will see creators competing for their chosen faction, with Twitch Drops available while participating creators are live.
NC America says the two-week event is seven times longer than comparable launch events previously run by the team.
NC America Wants AION 2 to Stand the Test of Time
“Reaching #1 on Steam ahead of launch is a strong start, but a launch is only part of how we measure success,” said Merv Lee Kwai, Co-CEO of NC America and Executive Publishing Producer for AION 2.
Lee Kwai added that NC has been making MMORPGs for more than 30 years and that the focus is on doing right by the AION franchise and its players, while building a game capable of holding up over time through steady content and by earning the trust of its player base.
AION 2 Expands on the Original MMORPG
AION 2 is the sequel to the original AION and previously launched in Korea and Taiwan in November 2025.
Flight remains at the heart of the experience, with players able to freely fly across a world that NC America says is 36 times larger than the original game. Players can also dive underwater and take part in aerial combat across both PvE and PvP content.
AION 2 Founder’s Pack Available Until October 4
The AION 2 Founder’s Pack is currently available on PC through Sunday, October 4, via Steam and NC’s PURPLE platform.
With Early Access now underway and AION 2 climbing Steam’s global sales rankings, the MMORPG is heading into its launch with considerable attention from players across multiple markets.
