Clash Royale has taken an unexpected creative leap today with the release of a new short film introducing a fictional extreme sport called Rhino Riding, alongside the arrival of the new Hero Dark Prince card.
The film blends real-world action sports influences with the fantasy-driven style of the game, building a surreal but surprisingly grounded concept that expands the universe of the mobile hit.
A New Extreme Sport Inspired by Hobby Horsing
“Rhino Riding” is described as a sport created within the Clash Royale universe, drawing inspiration from the Finnish hobby horsing movement that has grown into a global social media phenomenon.
The concept mixes dressage-style performance with parkour-inspired movement, pushing creativity and physical expression into exaggerated new territory.
Several signature moves are introduced in the film, including:
- The Rhino Charge – A forward burst of energy mimicking an ollie, focused on momentum and control.
- The Three Crown Line – A combination sequence involving an obstacle, a handstand, and a wall jump.
- The Prince Air – A 180-degree flip performed while holding the “rhino stick” between the legs.
Rhino Life Film Expands the Clash Universe
The short film, titled Rhino Life, follows a group of “rhino riders” across Helsinki and Los Angeles. The cast includes hobby horse athlete Alisa, alongside parkour athletes Jussi, Darryl, Chloe, Davis, and Quintin.
Directed by action sports filmmaker Ty Evans, the project blends real athletic performance with stylised storytelling, tracking Alisa’s evolution from hobby horsing competitor into a full “rhino rider.”
The film opens in Helsinki, where Alisa reflects on her passion for hobby horsing before transitioning into the new hybrid sport that merges creativity, performance, and urban movement.
Hero Dark Prince Joins the Battlefield
The introduction of Rhino Riding also serves as a thematic lead-in to the arrival of the new Hero Dark Prince card in Clash Royale.
Much like the riders in the film, the Dark Prince is depicted riding a rhino-like mount that charges through enemy defences, while the character himself delivers splash damage from behind his shield.
Director Commentary
Speaking about the project, director Ty Evans said:
“We had a ride of a time shooting ‘Rhino Life.’ The rhino riders showed incredible skill and creativity rooted in hobby horsing – a relatively new sport that sparks a lot of conversation. It reminded me of being around a community that’s building something not everyone understands yet. There’s a real energy in that, and that feeling came straight back to me while making this film.”
The project continues Clash Royale’s tradition of blending gameplay updates with creative world-building, using cinematic storytelling to introduce new in-game content in unexpected ways.
