Battlefield Studios has revealed a series of significant gameplay updates coming to Battlefield 6 and Battlefield REDSEC, with the changes focusing on some of the core systems that determine how combat looks and feels across both experiences.
The updates arrive alongside Season 5, which marks the beginning of Year 2 for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC following the games’ first year.
According to Battlefield Studios, the new season brings a range of quality-of-life improvements alongside changes intended to make individual matches feel more dynamic, with vehicle combat, gunplay and other core gameplay systems all receiving attention.
Battlefield 6 and REDSEC Vehicle Combat Changes
One of the major areas receiving attention is vehicle gameplay. Vehicle health regeneration and damage systems are being changed to better reward infantry players who use good positioning and successful flanking manoeuvres.
The anti-air systems are also being adjusted to create a stronger relationship between anti-air weapons and aircraft, changing how the two sides interact during battles.
Vehicle balance is also being reviewed as part of the wider changes, with Battlefield Studios continuing to refine how vehicles operate within the overall battlefield.
Gunplay and Weapon Improvements
Battlefield 6 and REDSEC are also receiving additional gunplay changes. An attachment tuning pass is being introduced to improve gameplay diversity, while selected weapons, gadgets and player poses are receiving animation polish.
The changes are part of a broader effort to refine the feel of combat while giving players more options when building their loadouts.
Battle Royale Gets Several Major Changes
REDSEC’s Battle Royale experience is also receiving a number of dedicated changes, beginning with improvements to ranked matchmaking bands. The aim is to create more accurate skill brackets when placing players into matches.
Reconnect functionality is also being introduced, allowing players who unexpectedly crash or disconnect to return to an ongoing Battle Royale match rather than being immediately removed from the action.
Casual Battle Royale players will also receive Recommended Drop Zones. The system is designed to guide newer players towards recommended points of interest and nearby loot while helping them avoid immediate conflicts with other squads.
Faster Armour and Rebalanced Classes
Armour mechanics are being adjusted in Battle Royale, with armour application speeds significantly increased.
Classes are also receiving tweaks, while training paths have been rebalanced. Weapon balance changes will accompany these adjustments as Battlefield Studios continues refining the Battle Royale experience.
Battlefield 6 and REDSEC’s Second Year Starts Here
Season 5 is being positioned as the beginning of the second year of content and development for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, rather than the end point of the current round of changes.
Battlefield Studios says it will continue delivering new content throughout 2027, while also refining the core systems behind the Battlefield experience.
Future development will include further work on vehicle gameplay and continued expansion of the game’s gunplay systems. The team says it will continue working with players through Battlefield Labs and live game feedback as it develops the games further.
With Season 5 beginning Year 2, Battlefield Studios is continuing to make changes to the systems at the heart of Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, with vehicle combat, weapons, classes and Battle Royale matchmaking all receiving attention.
