Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have revealed the first details of Battlefield 6 and Battlefield REDSEC Season 5, which brings the fight to Las Vegas with three new maps, a faster Battle Royale mode, a new Operation and a special Dead Space Halloween event.
Launching on October 13, Season 5 will roll out across three phases, introducing new battlefields, gameplay changes and quality-of-life improvements. Updates to existing maps, including Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City, will also change how players approach combat and objectives.
EA says the season will be its biggest yet, with new content arriving alongside community-requested features, including Platoons and a Server Browser.
Battlefield 6 Season 5 Begins With Two New Maps
Phase 1, titled Siege of Las Vegas, launches on October 13 with two new maps: Vegas Strip and Area 51.
Vegas Strip takes the battle into the heart of Las Vegas, transforming its famous neon-lit streets into a chaotic warzone. Players will fight through lavish restaurants, tunnels, multi-storey casinos and hotels, with plenty of opportunities for destruction as the battle spreads across the iconic strip.
Meanwhile, Area 51 takes players away from the city lights and into the Nevada desert. Battles will unfold across the surrounding hills before moving underground into the secretive facility, bringing combat to one of America’s most infamous locations.
Both maps form part of the season’s Nevada setting, with the third new map arriving later in the season.
Rapid Royale Brings Faster Battles to Battlefield REDSEC
Battlefield REDSEC is also getting a new way to play with the introduction of Rapid Royale, launching alongside Season 5. Set on the Las Vegas Strip, the mode offers a compact take on Battlefield’s Battle Royale gameplay, featuring faster rounds and fewer players.
The objective remains familiar: be the last squad standing. However, eliminating opponents provides redeploy tokens that can bring fallen teammates back into the match. As the game progresses, squads will need increasingly more kills to earn those tokens, making later stages more demanding.
Competitive Battlefield REDSEC also returns, with the Open Series and Elite Series coming back for another run. The Elite Series will feature a global prize pool of $1,338,000.
More details about Rapid Royale and the return of competitive REDSEC are available in EA’s official announcement.
Dead Space Comes to Battlefield for Halloween
From October 20 to November 7, players can take part in a limited-time Dead Space event. The scenario sees Pax Armata pursuing secret technology hidden beneath Area 51, bringing a science-fiction horror twist to the Battlefield universe.
The non-canon event celebrates the Dead Space series and includes environmental spaces adapted from the 2023 remake, alongside unique cosmetics that players can unlock.
It is a suitably unsettling addition for Halloween, putting a familiar survival-horror atmosphere into the middle of Battlefield’s large-scale military combat.
European Casino Arrives in November
Phase 2, Casino Heist, begins on November 10 with the introduction of European Casino, the third new map of Season 5.
Set inside one of the grandest casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, the map centres on a vault containing secrets sought by both PAX and NATO. Its focus on close-quarters combat will put players into intense firefights across the casino’s interior.
Destructible environments will also play an important role, allowing battle-hardened troops to open new routes through the map and uncover alternative tactical approaches as the fighting develops.
Frozen Aces Closes Out the Season
The final phase, Frozen Aces, begins on December 8, bringing an unexpected chill to Las Vegas. It will also introduce a new Operation spanning both Vegas Strip and Area 51.
The Operation will see players caught up in an escalating struggle to shift the global balance of power, connecting the season’s two opening maps in a larger battle.
Season 5 will also deliver updates to combat and existing maps, alongside quality-of-life improvements intended to make the overall experience smoother. EA has highlighted Platoons and a Server Browser among the community-requested features arriving as part of the wider update.
