A Smoother Start for New Players
This update completely reworks how Echoes of Elysium introduces its systems, making the onboarding process clearer, more intuitive, and far less overwhelming for new players.
Developers have focused heavily on feedback from the community, smoothing out early friction points and improving how core mechanics are explained and unlocked throughout progression.
New Movement and Glider Progression System
One of the biggest changes in Update 0.18 is the introduction of a new Power Jump ability, allowing players to launch themselves higher and further to improve traversal across the world.
Movement has also been expanded with a revamped glider progression system, turning it into a craftable and upgradeable tool that evolves over time rather than being a static item.
These changes significantly enhance mobility, making exploration feel more dynamic and rewarding.
More Content, Better Clarity, and Improved Systems
The update also introduces 150 unique items, expanding crafting and survival options for players.
Hints and tutorials have been fully reworked to be more helpful and less intrusive, striking a better balance between guidance and freedom.
Alongside these additions, the update includes a wide range of performance improvements, bug fixes, and general polish based directly on player feedback from Steam and Discord.
Developer Commentary on the Update
Speaking about the update, Loric Games co-founder and CEO Brian Johnson explained the focus on accessibility and early-game improvements:
“Update 0.18 is a massive step forward for the game, especially if you’re just jumping in or bringing friends along for the first time. We’ve spent a lot of time reworking the first-time experience to make things feel more natural, clearer, and less overwhelming.”
He also highlighted how player feedback played a key role in shaping the changes, with many systems redesigned to feel more intuitive and better paced.
Roadmap and Future Updates
Loric Games has also shared a roadmap outlining ongoing development plans for Echoes of Elysium, focusing on long-term improvements and quality-of-life features.
Planned updates include expanded localisation support, controller improvements, ship customisation, and Steam Deck optimisation, alongside continued stability and accessibility upgrades.
Two major content expansions are also planned for 2026, with regular updates scheduled in between.
A Sky-High Survival Experience
Set in the vast and atmospheric world of Elysium, the game blends survival crafting with airborne exploration. Players command fully customisable airships that serve as both transport and mobile bases.
From crafting and resource gathering to aerial combat against mechanical enemies, everything traditionally done on land is reimagined in the skies.
Players can also team up in up to 6-player co-op, exploring a fractured world filled with ancient technology, floating landscapes, and dangerous clockwork creatures.
Final Thoughts
With Update 0.18, Echoes of Elysium continues to shape itself into a more accessible and feature-rich survival experience. The focus on smoother onboarding, improved movement, and expanded crafting systems shows clear progress toward its long-term vision.
For players already in Early Access—or those considering jumping in now—this update represents the best starting point yet.
